Amboise
  • 3h
Our drive to Amboise will take 3 to 3 1/2 hours. On the way we will make time for rest stops.
Chateau Royal d'Amboise
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Imagine a palace on a promontory above the Loire, and imagine the hanging gardens between heaven and earth. Amboise was one of the favourite sites of the kings of France when they transformed their country during the Renaissance period. Anne de Bretagne, François Ier or Léonard de Vinci (buried in the chapel of the castle), are familiar faces here which we rediscover through the HistoPad. A living castle open to nature, a haven of peace for more than 90 species of birds, Amboise also offers a 360 ° view of landscapes listed as World Heritage by UNESCO
Day 2: Chambord - Chenonceaux - Cheverny
  • 3 stops
  • Meals: Not included
  • Accommodation: hotel in Amboise
Chateau de Chambord
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Placed on the first list of historical monuments in France in 1840, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, Chambord is one of the most amazing constructions of the Renaissance. Far from being a residential palace or a hunting lodge, Chambord embodies a true utopia: that of a brilliant work of art that has yet to reveal all its secrets. In Chambord, you will discover an ideal place, made of harmony and modernity. Because preserving the heritage of mankind is not a fixed attitude, but on the contrary, a perpetual questioning to make it sensitive to the largest public. Thus, each year, new developments and projects are presented to visitors and a rich programme of cultural events punctuates the seasons.
Chenonceaux
  • 2h
The history of the Château de Chenonceau is defined by a an almost uninterrupted succession of women who built, embellished, protected, restored and saved it. The first château was a medieval château dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, of which only the dungeon remains: the Tour des Marques. The château in its current form was built between 1513 and 1517, by Thomas Bohier and above all his wife, Catherine Briçonnet.
Chateau de Cheverny
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
The Château displays a wonderful range of furniture and interior decoration, all of which are remarkably well preserved. The private apartments on the ground floor convey the French ‘art de vivre’- art of living with rooms such as the birth chamber, the nursery, the private dining room and others. Many treasures can be found at Cheverny like a 17th century Gobelin tapestry for example, on display in the Arms room or the Louis XIV chest of drawers in the Boulle style.
