Activity itinerary

Castellammare del Golfo
  • 30m
The first stop will be in Castellammare del Golfo, in this small and charming town which rises on the slopes of the mountain complex of Monte Inici and gives its name to the homonymous gulf overlooking the castle, bordered to the east by Capo Rama and to the west by Capo San Vito. We will stop for 30 minutes at the Bar La Sorgente just long enough to have breakfast, with the typical Sicilian pastry based on sfinci, cannoli and cassatelle. Castellammare del Golfo is today one of the most renowned seaside resorts in Sicily and one of the most beautiful seaside villages in Italy. Its territory includes the stacks of Scopello, the tonnara of Scopello, the bay of Guidaloca, the Terme Segestane and the easternmost part of the Zingaro nature reserve.
Tempio di Segesta
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
After about 20 minutes on the highway, you will reach the Archaeological Park of Segesta, an ancient city with 2,800 years of history, founded by the Elymians, a people originating from ancient Troy. To see absolutely, the Ancient Theatre carved into the rock on top of Monte Barbaro and the Doric Temple of Segesta, with its imposing colonnade on the edge of a cliff more than 100 metres deep. The ancient city stands on Monte Barbaro, in the municipality of Calatafimi Segesta, a few kilometres from Alcamo and Castellammare del Golfo. Other excavations have brought to light a Hellenistic-Roman town and a medieval village. This archaeological site is among the best preserved in all of Sicily, despite the numerous transformations it has undergone, and is certainly one of the most evocative places of cultural interest thanks to the visible panorama and its position on the mountain. It is currently one of the major cultural and landscape tourism destinations in the province of Trapani.
Erice
  • 3h
After a couple of hours (approximately), we will leave Segesta and continue in the direction of Erice, an ancient stronghold also of Elymian origin located at 750 m a.s.l. Whoever ruled Sicily over time necessarily had to conquer Erice and Enna, and so did the Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards. In Erice you can breathe the fresh air and enjoy the splendid view of Trapani and the Egadi Islands, as well as taste the famous Genoese and almond paste biscuits, first fruits of the confectionary art of the cloistered nuns of the numerous existing convents. You can also have lunch in one of the many local restaurants and trattorias and taste the traditional Trapani cuisine, or stop in some fryer and enjoy a nice Arancina or a nice piece of Rianata (local pizza).
Castello di Venere
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
The Castle of Venus is a 12th century Norman castle that stands on an isolated cliff in the south-eastern corner of the summit of Mount Erice, in the province of Trapani, built on the ruins of an Elymian-Phoenician-Roman temple. Next to it are the towers of the Balio castle.
Cantine Florio
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Around 3.30 pm we will leave the beautiful and mysterious Erice and after just an hour on the road, the fresh and clean air of Mount Erice will give way to the intense smell of salt and poseidonia. We will reach the monumental entrance of the historic Cantina Florio di Marsala, founded exactly in 1833. We will dive into the traditional culture of Marsala wine, through a guided tour in one of the oldest cellars in Sicily. Here you will taste the real Marsala, a product that has made the history of Sicilian enology thanks to the Florio family. You will have the opportunity to visit the inside of the historic cellars, at the end of the tour, you will taste three Marsala Florio wines accompanied by 3 food pairings (the duration of the experience is approximately 90 minutes). The winery was founded in 1833 in Marsala by the entrepreneur Vincenzo Florio. At the end of the tasting, you can buy the Marsala. At 18:30 you will get back in the car and you will be driven back to your hotel
