Activity itinerary

Denia
  • 15m
The tour starts at the foot of the Walls Of Denia, surrounding the thriving urban centre of an Islamic kingdom twelve centuries ago. The weathered ramparts reveal Dénia’s ancient heyday under Muslim rule when they were built to defend the mighty Alcazaba Fortress on top of a hill, the main headquarters of the kingdom.
Plaça del Consell
  • 15m
Proceed to stroll through the seemingly endless maze of narrow cobbled alleys and lovely whitewashed peasant houses adorned with flowers in the centre of the Old Town where you can discover delightful surprises even in unexpected corners. Among that stands out Consell Square, surrounded by the most important public centers, including the elegant stone Town Hall, the serene 18th-century main church in Baroque style, and the Dénia Tourist Office. Visitors can spot occasional colourful parades and traditional performances taking place on the rock terrace of the bright square.
Bésame en este rincón
  • 25m
Then, go uphill to Herrería Street, carved into the rock hill topped by the citadel, to check out “Bésame en este rincón”. Translated as “Kiss me in this corner”, the romantic corner is the most photographed site in the Old Town, where you can take special souvenir photos with breathtaking backdrops of the tranquil town below.
Torre del Consell
  • 15m
Continue strolling along the breezy rocky path for wonderful vistas across the town and the port, then stop to gaze at the eye-catching Consell Tower, the entrance to the hilltop citadel. The outstanding representative of the castle offers a glimpse into Denia’s complicated history: the tower was initially used by the Moors to defend against the Christian attacks but later became the meeting place for the Christian Council to discuss and make decisions.
Túnel del Castell
  • 15m
On the next step, explore the most significant historical monument in the Old Town: the well-preserved Castell Tunnel, cutting straight through beneath the castle. Built in the 20th-century Spain Civil War, this living piece of history transports you back to the most dramatic historical moments when the people huddled together at this haven from fierce bombardments.
Esplanada Cervantes
  • 15m
After leaving the sober historical ambiance, stroll along the sunny palm-lined Cervantes Esplanada for refreshing views of the tranquil and extravagant cruise dock. Here and there along Dénia’s most popular seafront walkway are contemplating sculptures, offering great opportunities for creative souvenir photos.
Els Magazinos
  • 20m
Finally, the street leads to the seafood paradise of Els Magazinos. Whether it’s about dining time or not, the dreamy court food is a feast for all the senses: the tempting aroma of hearty foods from a wide range of cuisines, lively music, chattering sounds, colourful decorations, and inviting displays. The relaxed atmosphere here offers an ultimate experience of the rich gastronomy and culture of the seaport city.
