What you can expect

With our English-speaking Italian chef, learn the techniques of kneading the all-important pizza dough, as Italians have been doing for two centuries. Just don’t tell him pizza was created in Naples and not Rome! As you will see the typical Roman pizza is a bit different from the one you might taste in Naples. Our pizza has a smaller crust and it is famous for being crunchy and, obviously, super tasty.

We will start with the preparation of the dough, which will need some time to be ready. After this, you will be able to prepare your pizza by choosing amongst a variety of fresh ingredients.

Have fun choosing between deliciously salty Italian prosciutto or wonderfully fruity black olives. Decide if you want to keep things simple ‘Bianca’ without sauce, or add a rich tomato sauce for a pizza ‘Rosso’.

During the Pizza and Gelato cooking class, you will also learn how to prepare a perfect gelato. Gelato shops in Rome are amongst the best ones in the world and we will show you all the secrets that made the fortune of this beautiful dessert. Once you go back home you will be able to live again all the beautiful sensations you felt here in Rome while you were having a walk near the Colosseum tasting a fresh and sweet gelato.

And again, just pay attention to one important thing: do not mislead gelato and ice cream. It’s not the same thing and we can be very fussy about this. If you don’t know what the difference is you can read our blog post: Gelato vs. Ice Cream: What’s the Difference?

This was a really fun experience. Not only did we get to learn how to make pizza and gelato but we got to eat it at the end too. Simone made the lesson fun and we learnt some good techniques. Recipes are shared at the end along with lots more for other Italian meals.

From start to finish, the experience was excellent. There aren't enough words to describe how great everything was. Our chef, Alessandro I believe his name was, spoke great English and took great care of us. He was very kind, patient, and helped make this experience special every step of the way for myself, my husband, and teenage daughter. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Rome. Was actually the highlight of our visit, and the best pizza and gelato we had.

Absolutely outstanding. My wife and I plus our 13 and 10 year olds. They put us with a similarly aged family… and we had a stellar time. Would do again in a heartbeat.

We are so glad we took this Pizza and Gelato making class. The instructor did a great job (deftly managing some challenging participants) and we learned some DELICIOUS new recipes/techniques. What a great way to bring a bit of Rome home. Can't imagine a better souvenir. We are 100% fans of the class and of GetYourGuide!
