  • You must wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for visiting sacred or holy places.

What you can expect

Cruise across the waters of the Venetian Lagoon to visit 3 famous islands, each with its own unique ambiance and time-honored traditions. Hop off to explore colourful Burano, roam the streets of quaint Torcello, and watch the famous glass-blowing masters of Murano at work.

Step aboard a public boat near illustrious St. Mark's Square or behind the Santa Lucia train station and skim across the water towards the glass-making haven of Murano, where the skills and techniques for blowing colourful Murano glass have been honed for centuries. Step off and follow a guide to a glass-making store and showroom for a brief demonstration, and then spend the rest of your time exploring on your own before jumping back on the boat.

Your next stop is at the neighbouring island of Burano, best known for its enchanting fishermen's houses in striking, bold colours. Start your visit here with a visit to a lace-making store—the island is known for its delicate, handmade designs—before roaming about to snap photos of the canals that criss-cross the island or grabbing a coffee in a quiet cafe.

Your final stop is the island of Torcello, recognised as the very first settlement in the Venetian Lagoon. It’s home to ancient Byzantine churches and pretty pathways, perfect for a stroll and a glimpse into the past before you return to the boat for the final cruise back to Venice.

The tour guide's explanation was completely useless due to the terrible quality of the boat's speakers.

This tour is a good way to fill up a day if you have the free time. You go to three islands and along the way, a guide tells you about the islands or points of interest through a loudspeaker on the boat. Murano is known for their glass/glass making so you make a stop at a glass factory where they have a demonstration for you. Then you visit the shop, if you'd like to purchase anything. A bit overpriced but the items are nice and from Murano. They have shops along the canal as well if you'd rather shop elsewhere. Torcello was the next stop. Honestly, nothing there except a church and the Devil's bridge. Very small. Last island, Burano, was my favorite. The colorful fisherman houses give it a unique charm. There are plenty of shops and places to grab a bite to eat. I bought a framed print of the colorful houses and a reasonable price. You also get to see the leaning tower of Burano! If you're looking to purchase nice Murano glass and see the colorful houses, then this is a must-do.

It was difficult to understand the guide on the boat - the sound system is bad and I understood the French better than English (I am Australian and native English speaker). The tour was good otherwise for the price we paid.

Everything was nice until we came back. They did not drop us off at the same place where they picked us up in San Marco, which was better for us. They dropped us off at another stop, which was about a 15 minute walk to San Marco and I specifically said my husband cannot walk because in the airport we get wheelchair. My husband cannot walk so he had a hard time walking and every minute after to stop and catch his breath he had foot and knee surgery so it’s ridiculous. When they pick you up somewhere they should drop you off at the same spot I would never do this again and one of my friends and her husband is coming to Italy in July and I will tell her don’t go to the to the tree tour. Don’t do that because it’s too much walk Back to San Marco.

Fine tour if you want a boat ride around Venice. Not all the islands are worth stopping on and 45 minutes can feel way too long on Torcello.

The tour overall was enjoyable. However Expedia's explanation of the guided tour is I believe somewhat misleading. Firstly, it is a public ferry tour offered at the main terminal and while their is a guide the guide is on the boat, and doesnt meet you anywhere specifically. The boats run hourly and although the same guide is with each group it is a different boat for each island. The sound system on the boat is inadequate and therefore you miss out on hearing the history of the islands. Further the guides only role is to point your in the direction of the sights and tell you what time to return to the boat. All that said it was a nice day visiting the islands and taking in the atmosphere.
