The experience begins when a friendly guide greets you at the meeting point. You'll be part of a small group of no more than 11 travellers aboard a comfortable minibus that takes you south out of the city along the beaches of Botany Bay and through the Royal National Park. First stop is Bald Hill Lookout, a popular launch site for hang gliders and para gliders, which affords sweeping views of the Illawarra coastline and the famous Sea Cliff Bridge. After the break it's just a few minutes drive to the family-run Symbio Wildlife Park which is active in koala conservation. Here you'll find out everything you ever wanted to know about these fascinating marsupials during a private koala experience with a keeper. Snap the ultimate selfie - just you and a koala. You’ll also be able to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies and get up close to other native Australian wildlife. Next you'll meander along the Grand Pacific Drive traversing the Sea Cliff Bridge as it sweeps out over the ocean, well clear of the crumbling cliffs to which the old highway clung. You’ll continue to follow the scenic coastline to a golden beach where you’ll enjoy lunch in a café popular with locals with views out over the ocean. Bring your swimmers for a dip if the sun is out! In the afternoon you’ll head up through temperate rainforest into the Southern Highlands. An easy hike leads to viewpoints that take in the spectacular sandstone gorges and towering waterfalls of the Morton National Park. Finally, you’ll drive along country roads to a boutique winery to sample locally-produced, cool climate wine before returning to Sydney. Arrival back at Circular Quay is around 6:30pm.

Tony our guide provided us with plenty of information about the areas we drove through and visited. His vast knowledge and great people skills made our journey with a small group a very pleasant one. There was a lot of driving involved but it was worth the trip. We enjoyed petting koalas, feeding kangaroos, sightseeing, walking along a waterfall and tasting wine in a nice boutique winery.

This was my final tour while traveling to Sydney and it was my favorite by far! The private koala encounter was worth it all by itself and I fell in love with a lil guy called Bawinya. Symbio Wildlife Park really is the best place to enjoy the magical animals of Australia in an environment that feels fairly natural, not like a zoo feels. Our bush hike was incredible and so good for my body to be out in that amazing fresh air! Our guide, Rowan, was with us every step of the way. And the wine tasting was a perfect finale! Such a spectacular day that I'll remember for the rest of my life!

Steve (the “Original Steve”) is a great tour guide with extensive experience with leading tours. Although he is a native, he spent many years in Ecuador, leading a rafting company. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and “Australian’. Symbio wildlife park is an outstanding destination where you can hand-feed Kangaroos and Wallabies. The best part of our trip was getting into the park before it opened, because otherwise, there are HUNdREdS of screaming children there. We got a personal encounter with multiple Koalas, and were allowed to pet them. The exhibits are all spotless, and you can tell the care they take with this park. The animals didn’t appear too stressed and had ample places to hide if they didn’t want to be surrounded with screaming children. This park was the highlight of my trip to Sydney. We also visited Bald Hill and watched hang gliders launch off the cliff and down to Bulli beach below. We traveled along the scenic coastline on the sea cliff bridge, had a great lunch (that included a soda, beer or wine with your meal) We then ventured into Australias oldest National Park; Morton National Parl and viewed the Fitzroy falls and caught a glimpse of a superb lyrebird and heard its (multiple) songs. One silly part of the tour is a drive through the town of Robertson, where you can view their kitschy “Big Potato,” an homage to the potato’s Ro Weston is known for. Finally, the last stop was Centennial Winery in Bowrel, where we tasted multiple wines that were paired with crackers, dried fruit and cheese. On the way home, Steve pulled off the main road to show us a mob of wild Kangaroos. We also saw multiple wild birds, including Cockatoos, gollahs and Rosellas along the way. This was an outstanding trip, and we all enjoyed Steve’s narration and expertise.

Definitely a highlight of our Australia trip last month! Well worth every penny - even with less than ideal weather. You really luck out if you get Jackie as your guide. She's the absolute sweetest!

A great day starting with a private encounter with koalas. This alone was worth the trip! Kangaroos eating right out of your hand, too. The national park was beautiful and the winery was spectacular. Bring water bottles or purchase along the way. Also there were a good number of stairs to see the waterfalls. Not bad, but if you can’t do stairs talk to your guide. Scott was fantastic, friendly and informative.

Tony, our guide for the day, was just outstanding. Informative and a very pleasant person to spend the day with. The up-close experience with the koalas and kangaroos at the wildlife park was one we won't easily forget. During our travels, Tony took us off the main thoroughfares so we could see Sydney neighborhoods, not just traffic on highways. The views of the Fitzroy Falls and adjoining landscape were amazing, as was watching the para-gliders get airborne at the Bald Hill Lookout. I highly recommend this tour.
