We walked into the room & it smelled very musty. It was very small, so small that the chair that belonged to the desk was off to the side against the wall instead of under the desk. The doors did not have a second lock on them, such as a chain or bolt. When we checked in I asked if they we were on the River & was told not with the standard room that we booked. So, if you go there be sure to ask for a riverside room to be on the River. We went to one of the restaurants there and waited for over an hour for our food, which wasn’t the best. I had the sliders, which I asked to be well done, and they were rare. My husband had the chicken Caesar wrap and he said it was very dry, like there was barely any dressing on it. The only nice thing about it was the view. Not once while we were waiting did the waiter stop by to advise us of the hold up on our meal.

Hotel staff was very accommodating. Restaurant suggestions were great. Outdoor pool area was very clean and well maintained. Although the hotel is dated the room was very clean and comfortable.

Plus: comfortable bed and room Cons: entered hotel with strong smell of cleaning products. Hotel needs lots of TLC Cement block walls in halls with no elevator which should be in details. View of hotel was marina with rusted tin roof. Would not return. Hotel looks nothing like website

Great view outside, inside needs a LOT of updating
I grew up in this area of NY so I love the St. Lawrence River. Bonnie Castle has the premier location for viewing the river and Boldt Castle and it was my husband's first time up there so I booked at Bonnie. As I remember, and everyone from that area knows, Bonnie is in desperate need of updating. Much of the hotel looks like it's right out of the 1970s (and not in a good/retro way). However, the room was clean and the view was spectacular. I'm really hoping one day they tear Bonnie down and build a hotel that the 1000 Islands deserves in this beautiful place.
