Accommodation In Bogor

You know what they say: “Monsoon showers bring constant flowers.” Or something like that. In Bogor, Indonesia, locals are never in a dry spell, with warm mists and sun showers soaking into the landscape almost every day. While you will find some flowers in this West Java city, you can also expect to be dazzled by lush grasses and towering palm trees. Even back in the 17th century, Dutch colonists considered Bogor a top holiday destination. Today, it’s home to a sprawling botanical garden and a palace, so drop what you’re doing and catch the next flight to Bogor.

You can’t stay in the president’s palace, but with Bogor accommodation you can get pretty close in immaculate villas and modern resorts.

What to Do in Bogor

Two words: Baby camels. Visit the baby zoo at Taman Safari Indonesia south of the city, where you can feed four-legged friends. Feeling more refined? Trade your pith helmet for Bogor Palace, located on the south edge of the Bogor Botanical Garden. Explore the flora before wandering over to Museum Zoologi to check out well-preserved fauna. You can’t feed the wildlife on expo there, though, because they’re already stuffed. When you’re ready to abscond to the trees, travel about 80 km west to Taman National Halimun Salak, a national park with hot springs and waterfalls. If lounging in the tropics makes you hungry, order the regional specialty, karedok, a salad smothered in spicy peanut sauce. When yums turn to yawns, relax in cosy Bogor hotels nestled amongst palm trees and bamboo.
