Had a minor mixup with the room information coming in from our online booking, but the staff were amazing and the facilities were in excellent shape. We were very pleased with our stay.

The bed in the room could be moved to allow a small end table on either side of the bed. The room was large enough to accommodate this change. I had to place my glasses on the microwave and in an emergency would have to locate them in the dark. No other issues.

Hotel Port Aux Basques worked very nicely for what I was doing: finishing a long drive through Newfoundland followed by a ferry trip over to Nova Scotia. I arrived later than the hotel's restaurant's hours, so they pointed me to where there were places I could get food. The hotel itself was very clean, and parking was easy. I was in a room in which the easiest way to access my room was up the stairs; I did not sense there was an elevator. At my check-in, I was told I could have saved money if I had *not* booked through Expedia, which I did not find helpful since the frequency of my stays in Port aux Basques, NL is exceedingly low. Perhaps that information would have helped long before, and it did not feel good to be welcomed to the hotel by being told I messed up.

It’s a quiet hotel but the website I booked on said check in was at 2pm and when I got there they don’t check people in till 3 so there was nobody around. Also the dinning room was not open Sundays and I was not aware of that till I got there!

Having to haul luggage up stairs with heavy fire doors to navigate was not ideal. The room climate control had to be constantly adjusted, since there wasn't an automatic control
