The hotel is currently having some renovation work done to it and i was lucky enough to have an excellent newly refurbished room with air conditioning that was an absolute godsend on a day that topped over 30oC However, there was no wifi available and my phone signal wasn't the greatest, so it meant working on my laptop a slow process. I'm sure that in time, the wifi will be sorted out once all the refurbishment work has been carried out.

Upon arriving we were told we had been booked into an accessibility room which had not been requested. Hall carpet was not clean or inviting Room was reasonably clean but sofa was grubby. Best part was breakfast which was plentiful and varied. However we were told by reception earlier is better otherwise we may not get a table. Did not like the shower area and would be very worried about using it if we had accessibility needs. Whole floor became wet after using shower. Returned to room after full day out. Room not cleaned or tidied. Apparently unless notified by hanging a Room available for cleaning, they do not clean/Tidy room (Irony on the reverse of Room available.... is equivalent of Do not disturb :) ) Probably not likely to return.

Unpleasant stay
On arrival wewere told that the room hadnt been paid for due to insufficient funds. This was because holiday inn had tried to collect an incorrect amount from horeks.com. This was very unsettling after a journey. The room stunk of damp. When we told the receptionist on checkout, he just looked at us without responding. The sofa bed was uncomfortable. My son could feel the springs through the mattress. Overall tge stay was not up to the stanard we have experienced at other holiday inn express horels.
