Positives: location, view, balcony with swallows nests, staff. Negatives: tired hotel, in places not clean. Bathroom pod in rooms more in keeping with a caravan than a historic hotel. Potential customers should be aware of this before booking. Room furniture is small and 1960’s, again not in keeping with room or hotel. No balcony furniture. Reception covered in photos of hotel owner with celebrities, and every room has mediocre modern art by one of the owners / resident artist. Not nice. Owners have created their own newspaper and created other literature poems. It’s all very self promoting, self congratulating without have any tangible substance, vague and woolly. We asked for a nice view when booking a special dinner, this was missed by the staff. Dinner was unremarkable and portion sizes were small. Overall an odd experience at a seedy but well situated hotel.

Beautiful historic building, converted to a hotel. Public areas are stunning, as are the coastal views. We did not use any of these areas however, and did not eat there. Room - no. 109: • Small, with queen bed. All exquisitely clean. - Loo/shower v pokey, would have seriously struggled to use in days when over 14 stone! Entry is up a high step over a sharp threshold. Very difficult for pensioners such as us to use. We expected quirky in a converted stately home, but not this quirky!! Poor; only seriously useable by young fit people. - Floor: laminate, not well installed. Now curling up in several places - we both stubbed our toes walking around the bed. One board lifted badly. We alerted hotel staff to this concern; they seemed to take it seriously - but they did repeat that ancient excuse, “you’re the first people to complain”! - overall: at £120 a night in a prime location we didn’t expect luxury, but we did expect safety and accessibility. We got neither.

AWFUL.
The most disappointing stay ever experienced. It was supposed to be a surprise stay at Camelot Castle Hotel, but the advertised 'moorland view' was about 1km away , over housing roof-tops. The TV did not work, the internet eventually worked after 2 complaints. The washbasin/wc and shower measured about 1.5 met x 1 metre in a small 'pod' in the room. And there was no mention of breakfast being an extra, on top of a high initial price. So disappointing, the worst holiday experience we have ever had, particularly for a special occasion.

Fantastic view, excellent service, mediocre food
The location is the best thing about this hotel. We had a sea-view room and it was simply amazing. The bathroom in a family room (which is pretty big) is super tiny. The bathroom is more like a "port-a-potty" size, that you see on airplanes or trains, to be honest. But I can understand that construction of a large bathroom is not feasible in that castle. Breakfast was very mediocre, for 15.50 GBP per person. Food presentation and taste was really mediocre. I would suggest that walk to the village centre of Tintagel and there are plenty of places to eat. The paintings on the entire walls of the castle are surely an eye-sore. I understand that it is done by the owner (the paintings) but really it demerits the beauty, authenticity and value of the castle. Maybe he should buy some real paintings, or even some fake (but famous ones) to decorate the walls inside the hotel. Overall, it is a very nice hotel to stay for 1-2 nights, especailly for the view and the nearby location of the Tintagel caslte and the Arthur's statue on the cliff.

Quirky. Absolutely not like a standard hotel chain. We had the largest room we have ever had in a hotel but also the smallest toilet/shower which was a plastic pod. Very helpful staff and good value for money over all. Convenient for Tintagel. Spectacular sunset viewed with a good wine from the bar. Memorable. Excellent and helpful staff. If you are thinking about it I recommend that you should give it a go, but it is 'different' in a nice sort of way.

Stunning setting with lovely views but tired rooms
The hotel was beautiful but the room was tired with a very tiny plastic extremely dated bathroom. The cups in the room were thin plastic see through. The view from our room was stunning. The staff were welcoming however the dinner could have been better. We ordered cider with a bottle of fizzy water and were given lager and no bottle of water at meal time.
