Three Pines Historic Log Cabin (About 20 Minutes From Ark Encounter)

The cabin at Three Pines Farm is rich in history. The logs that compose it were hewn in the 1790s by Captain Phillip Buckner, a Revolutionary War veteran. Throughout the 1800s it housed Morford's tavern and inn, with many guests arriving by stagecoach.

Despite its long history, the cabin is well-suited to the modern guest. It consists of three floors. Upstairs it boasts the Buckner and Morford Bedrooms, containing a queen and twin bed respectively. A bathroom with a shower/bath adjoins the Morford Room.

The middle/ground floor is where guests enter the cabin. Captain Buckner entertained his guests in this space with lavish feasts. In its modern layout, this floor includes the dining room, kitchen, and living room. There is also a lavatory adjoining the kitchen.

Though the basement was not part of the original cabin, it flows seamlessly into the modern layout. It includes the Pine Bedroom (queen bed), the den (futon convertible to a double bed), and a bathroom containing a shower. It is a walk-out basement, with a patio space behind the cabin.

We like to think that we are carrying on the tradition of Buckner and Morford today as we open the door of this historic cabin to you.

Family summer vacation
Absolutely loved this cabin. It's gorgeous, spacious, and comfortable. We saw a buck, doe, and bunny in the back yard. We sat on the front porch in the rocking chairs and listened to nature and fountain from the pond while we enjoyed time as a family together. Perfect get away. Would stay here again!

Beautiful view
We enjoyed our stay and loved the history of the cabin! My elderly dad traveled with us as a Christmas present to see the Ark. He loves old cabins, which is why we chose this one. We loved the view! We got to see the most beautiful rainbow right over the cabin! It was like looking at a painting with the rainbow set over the gorgeous property. Sweet memories were made and I’ll cherish every one. The only thing I’d suggest is a good deep clean on the upstairs jacuzzi tub. The jet spouts were dirty, and the towels in that bathroom had a mildewed odor. Other than those small issues, we’d plan another stay at this cabin, as well as recommend it to others. Thank you for helping us to have a wonderful visit!

Check in was super easy/instructions were great. The drive to/from town is scenic but also requires a little time and care. The notebook with information on the story of the place was excellent. It was quiet and relaxing for 4 adults. There is a little maintenance that should be done. Overall, quite satisfactory and enjoyable.

Family Trip To Kentucky
I had some business in Kentucky so the family and I decided to go a few days early to visit the Ark Encounter & Creation Museum. Our group, ages 2 through 71, enjoyed staying in this historic log home. The owner was very responsive, easy to work with and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The location was great for visiting the Ark & Creation Museum. The property and the home were fantastic. The home was well maintained and comfortable for all. We would certainly stay there again.

Relaxing, quiet
It was very clean and charming, we stayed downstairs, my brother and his wife upstairs. And it was about 30 min to the Ark Encounter, 1 hour to creation museum , and also 1 hour to Frankford to the Buffalo Trace distillery, and Daniel Boones grave, which had a great view of downtown and Capital,

The Best Cabin Experience
Truly amazing workmanship and decor. Every time we walked around we would find something else special about this cabin. The relocation/history binder is a quick and necessary read! It is one of the best Log Cabins we have stayed in so far and I recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in the KY countryside!

Excellent Retreat for an Ark Encounter Visit
Three Pines Farm was the perfect place to stay during our four-day visit to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. Located between the two attractions, it was a convenient retreat after a day in the museum. The kitchen was well stocked, and the two tables gave us a place to eat and another for games. The living room and downstairs family room were perfect for reading a book or watching a video. The history of the 200-year-old log cabin is well documented and very interesting. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful property or sitting by the pond. We will definitely come back to Three Pines when we return to the area!

Our yearly spring back
Every year over the kids spring break we load up and try a new state we've done the Dakotas, Maryland, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, California, Arizona and this year was Kentucky. We absolutely loved the 3 pines cabin it was warm and inviting with everything we needed for our stay. We would have loved to stay even longer if we could but this was a last minute booking because we own a large small business and barely could get away this year but tha k God for y'all in this peaceful place it is exactly what we needed to relax and spend family time

Beautiful Historic Getaway
My husband and I and our five youngest kids stayed here while we visited the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. The historic home was cozy, clean, and full of amenities all while preserving the historic nature and solitude of the home and area. Our kids ran the surrounding hills to burn off energy while my husband and I sat at the pond and enjoyed the serenity and beautiful sunsets. It was a wonderful time to disconnect from our electronics and enjoy each other. We definitely will be back. Thanks to the owners for an incredible and much-needed vacation.

Cozy little cabin
We enjoyed our stay in this log cabin. It was centrally located to many local attractions, including the Ark Encounter, AMC theatre, and jump parks for our children. The lot was large, which provided plenty of room to run around with the kids. The cabin itself was cozy, with an authentic feel, from the wood burning stove downstairs to the wood fireplace, the wooden furniture, and barn style doors. I would definitely stay here again with my family.

Memorable
We enjoyed our stay very much. Don't regret it at all. The wood floors were beautiful but bring your slippers. The binder that is there with the history of the cabin was quite interesting and was glad it was there. The best part was sitting by the warm fireplace and enjoying family time. My mom is 93, so was unable to use the stairs. That was our only downfall. She didn't mind the couch as long as she could enjoy the rustic feel of the cabin. Overall, we had a nice stay. WI

Short Family Vacation
First, using VRBO was so easy. I was worried because I had never tried the app before, so I expressed concern with the owner about how it all worked but it was a breeze. Communication with the property owner was prompt and explained everything I needed to know. Second, the property was amazing. Easy access and plenty of room for everyone. My family which included my mom, granny, sister, brother in law and 7 year old nephew absolutely loved it. My sister said she slept so well while there. It was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. We will be back to stay again, for sure. A perfect weekend vacation to the Creation Museum and The Ark and this cabin was the cherry on top. I really cannot say enough good things.
