Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The 30euros city tax for five nights stay payable on arrival will make it unlikely I'll return to Dusseldorf for an extended stay.
The room was pretty basic, plain walls, no wall art at all, but great that it had a small fridge. No tea or coffee making facilities but when we asked they provided a kettle and cups. The kettle leaked a lot... There was no spoons.
The only English language TV channels were news.
My phone was unable to connect to the in hotel WiFi using the credentials provided.
Good that there was a safe, but disappointed not to have an iron.
At 21 euros for breakfast, it's clearly priced for the business traveller but there is a large supermarket less than 100 metres away, and also restaurants in there, and a pizza takeaway nearby. It's a good bit further to the likes of McDonalds or Burger King should you like that sort of thing.
The staff were fine, friendly on arrival, and the lady room cleaner did a good job.
There is a bar in the hotel and a regular and gay bar round the corner and along the street.
It's a longish 15 mins walk to the old town but handy for u bahn and trams. Also 15 mins walk from the main station, the hauptbahnhoff.
Personally, this was not as nice as the Mercure I'd stayed at before, but in this trip it was considerably cheaper, and further away from the winos and homeless who seem to live in the road junction outside the Mercure.
Very handy for konigsallee and city centre shopping. About 15 mins from the Rheinturm tower.
