The location of this hotel is fabulous. You are right by all the major attractions without being right in the crowded areas. You walk up a block and you are in the middle of everything. Staff and services were great. They let us leave our luggage there until our room came available. Breakfast was great (a full breakfast included in the price for the room). The only difficulty we had was that they gave us a handicap room. With 3 people bathing in the “open shower” it made a very wet mess of the bathroom. That was inconvenient!

Good hotel. Beds are double which is small. The beds are firm but need to be pillow top (to firm). Hotel staff were nice and helpful.

Key location and great breakfast
We had a great stay here, the hotel was accommodating to hold our bags before checking in. The staff were kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is great for exploring the city by foot. Breakfast was a hit for our whole family.

There is no onsite parking or laundry available. The onsite restaurant and bar is just a walk-up counter where you check in. The offsite parking that's available is a 5 minute walk down the road, but the walk back to the hotel takes you passed individuals that are clearly on drugs and make you feel very unsafe. It's just not in a great part of town. For the price, look elsewhere. I wish I had seen more honest reviews before I booked.

The staff were very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was also very good and there was a good variety of foods to choose from. Unfortunately, the rooms were small and we felt a bit unsafe when walking around the area near the hotel. The bathroom we had needed tiles fixed and the vanity was also cracked. I was really expecting a better place for the price we paid. We’ve often enjoyed staying at the HI Express. This was a bit of a letdown, especially being our first time in Scotland.

This property is close to the Royal Mile and the university, making it very convenient to shopping, dining and visiting my daughter in her dorm at the university. The front desk staff is very helpful and pleasant, even when the lobby is full of people. I've stayed here twice in the last year and have had very good experiences each time. Oh, and the breakfast is great!

Room was very clean. Inquired about the laundry facilities which was the reason I selected this hotel. Very disappointed since it cost almost $400 US a night for a holiday inn express. The desk person only apologized and said they could send it out but no facilities would be in such a small hotel. Then PLEASE, for travelers sake, identify as access to laundry services NOT Identify as having laundry facilities. This is on HI Express to know what they can offer. I feel shortchanged. On a positive note, the desk ordered a taxi for airport departure and provided a grab and go breakfast for us. A holiday in.

Our original room ended up having some water issues due to flooding in the room above us so they were quick to answer our call when we found the water leak in the bathroom and switched us to another room, the manager was very kind, friendly and left us a bottle of wine and snacks for the kids in our new room, we were very happy with their service. The breakfast was also great, good and plenty of food and very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
