Very bad hotel to stay at. Refrigerator, television dont work. Maintenance unwilling to make an effort to fix what's broken using the excuse "No English". Bathroom wall leaking water from hotel laundry. You can hear next room conversation.

The Kalyon Hotel was suggested by my friend who lives in Istanbul. We really liked the closeness of the hotel to the Sultan Ahmet where majority of the touristic attractions were accessed by walking. Our room was facing to the Marmara sea. The room was quiet and clean. There was a minibar refrigerator. It was empty and hot at the beginning. If you run the air condition and leave the enclosed furniture door open (not the fridge door), the fridge will get cold enough to have cold water. You will not have ice but the front desk can send you a bucket of ice. Ask the front desk how to go to Sultan Ahmet. They will open the back door for you. It is less than 5 minutes to Sultan Ahmet. Otherwise, the map shows 15 minutes. The front desk, Enis, Ekrem, and others like Fatih and Omer (sorry I couldn’t remember all the names) were absolutely kind and answered all of our questions. We highly recommend this place. One more thing, the hotels in Turkey run in different way. We shouldn’t expect the same kind of facilities and the same styles. Be a little open minded and pass your recommendations to the hotel so that they can implement. Thanks Kalyon Hotel for making our visit to Istanbul memorable.

Great hotel. Room was clean and roomy (jr suite). Staff was excellent. Loved the location. Easy walking distance to Blue Mosque, transit station, and other attractions. Great ocean view. Breakfast was good. Only complaint was the beds were a little hard.

What I didn't like is no air conditioning even though the temperature was quite warm. We should have the choice whether we need A/C or not. If you cannot sleep well at night because of temperature that ruins staying in any hotel.

Had someone claiming to be a repairman try to get into my daughter’s room at 1:30 in the morning. Luckily she had the secondary latch in place. When we reported it to the desk, they had no record of a repair request and acted like it was no big deal. VERY POOR SECURITY FOR GUESTS…

It was all very nice, clean, the staff was friendly, and a great location. but for the price we had to pay for breakfast and for a taxi to the airport where there were cheaper hotels that included both. Other than that it was a great hotel

The air conditioning is a big problem. The rooms are hot. The AC is poor and it only stays on for four hours. The room never gets cool. The staff is unwilling to address it. They just they are working on it. Then you return to a hot room. If you pay $200 a night for a room they shouldnt be cheap about the air conditioning. Honestly the hotel in general isnt that great. But the AC makes it a total deal killer.
