The hotel is right on the beach and in a great location to take advantage of many aspects of Koh Tao. The facilities like the restaurant and pool are great. The staff were all very friendly and obliging. A special shout out to the young man who looked after the pool bar during our stay; he was an absolute delight.

Don’t spend extra for the upgraded room.
I booked an upgraded room compared to my friends for an extra $40/night because I wanted a bathtub and the pool view. For both nights I had no hot water so was unable to use the tub or take a warm shower, and the “pool View” was just getting to look at palm tree leaves. Not happy overall with the experience. Breakfast however was great.

Pool was good Cover on bed would be better if not one big one should be 3. Air con was good. Shower wand didn't work properly. Bathroom door was hard to open. ? Glass door for the toilet is a bit strange. Otherwise the place is great. Big rooms. Friendly staff

While we enjoyed our stay there were A Couple of issues 1. No change for large denominations 2. Smell of cigarette smoke coming into our room - when someone smoking on balcony -suggest they have a non smoking area away from smoking - 3 let people know there will be a feee pick up on arrival at port Good things - staff At restaurant were Excellent and very friendly

Had a lovely stay at Koh Tao Montra Resort. Always hard to tell what a property will actually be like when booking online, but we were focused on a good pool and decent sized rooms as we were travelling with Grandma and teens. Pool was nice and big and clean. Rooms were clean and very large. Property was very quiet and peaceful. We had an issue with the ceiling leaking when the A/C was on. They came and did a quick fix but it persisted. We just caught the water with a bucket and left it alone as maintenance didn't seem to worried about it. The location is on Mae Haad beach but is pretty close to Sairee beach (15 min walk). The bustling area of Mae Haad is only a 3-5 min walk from the hotel and there are lots of restaurants, 7-eleven, shops, etc. Would stay at Koh Tao Montra again.

Very tired and rates are too high
Very expensive for the quality and standard of service and facility. For the price we expected much more. Food and refreshments served at breakfast was very poor. No soap, minimal toilet paper until requested. Rooms and overall hotel facilities are very tired and neglected. The rates for this hotel need to be reviewed so guests can feel they get what they pay for!

We have been to Montra many times in the past, but have not visited for a number of years. As other reviewers say, the property needs updating. Silly things, like knobs missing from drawers, cupboards and doors not opening or closing properly. There was one day when we went down to breakfast and there was absolutely nothing there, not even coffee. Pool towels were also a problem. However, having said that, we still love Montra. The pool is fantastic, the rooms are large, beds comfortable and the location is wonderful - right on the beach. Staff are also helpful and friendly. We would have no hesitation going back and the resort could be really beautiful if only they would maintain it better.
