Accommodation In Kos

Imagine an island that floats in the middle of the Aegean Sea and is home to the sweetest honey around. Are you picturing Kos, Greece? Good, because that’s precisely the place we’re talking about. This place will dazzle you with its ancient ruins and splendid beaches. We can’t figure out what you’re waiting for, so get going.

Things to Do in Kos

Even if you’re not an archaeological nut, you should still spend a little time at a historic site. Something along the lines of the ruins of the Asclepeion will do the trick. This place was a healing temple dedicated god Asclepius, the ancient Greek god of medicine. Some procedures performed for patients back in the day included baths, making offerings of gifts or money, and dream therapy. Sounds like a 350 BC country club.

You’ve got to be hungry by now, so before you venture back to your Kos accommodation, head to the high mountain village of Zia. It won’t take you long—the island is only 40 by 8 km. Once you’re there, walk through the narrow streets of vendors and pick up anything from handmade Greek leather sandals to traditional Komboloi (worry beads). This place is also well-known for its honey, so don’t feel bad about going all Winnie-the-Pooh while you’re there.

Getting to & Around Kos

Your holiday in Kos will begin at Kos Island International Airport (KGS), centrally located near the village of Andimachia. The local buses and taxis that sit curbside can connect you to any of the main villages on the island, so you’ll be able to reach one of Wotif’s fantastic Kos hotels in no time. The island is relatively flat, so a bike is another great option if you’d like to burn some calories while on your trip. But who wants to do that? Just grab a motorised scooter instead and pretend you’re Peter Fonda cruising around!

Haven’t you had enough of staring at your computer screen while your co-workers jabber on about their fantastic holidays? It’s your turn, mate! Browse through our great deals on hotels in Kos and come home with your own stories. Better yet, look at our offers for hotels in Santorini —the supposed location of Atlantis!—and visit two Greek islands on one trip.
