Hotel is attached to one of my favorite golf courses in England. After playing golf, I spent the night at the hotel prior to my flight from Manchester the next morning.

Very bad stay.
When booking, there is no mention of an additional fee for the spa and the pool. This was the only reason I booked this hotel. You will receive an email AFTER you have booked and paid, stating the additional fees. This is entrapment. The single room is not what is clearly shown in the pictures. I was put into a old, basic and minimal room. The photos only show the window of the room on the booking page. Again, this is entrapment. The 'nicer' room is in full view. The greeting was very rude. I was given no information, no directions (which was very much needed in this poorly laid out hotel woth no clear signage. The lack of information caused A LOT of inconveince, walking around in torrential rain. The food at the bar was very expensive. £17 for what was pretty much a microwave meal and £7.75 for a pint of larger. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures. Its dated, expensive, and lots of hidden costs.

The hotel was ok. The breakfast was good. The building was nice. However it was not worth the money due to having to pay £60.00 per person for the spa. So basically £60.00 for a swim on top of the stay. I've been in dozens of hotels in the UK and never ever paid for the spa. Therefore I won't be returning

Worth a trip just could be better
The greasy breakfast left much to be desired along with the warm fruit juices and only a choice of grape fruit or orange slices that wasn't very nice. The bedroom was filthy and very dusty. The bathroom was exceptionally poor, the bath was all marked and grimey. The plug hole full of slime, hair and whatever else. Limscale and mould on the shower head, cracked sink. It is such a beautiful place however with the mediocre breakfast & overall poor upkeep in cleanliness & room quality really let this place down. I would like to say that it did not ruin the stay although i can't.... with the prices being what rhey are you rxpect luxury and the price of a drink £7.50 thats shocking

Seriously needs to be updated
Everything is just old fashioned, definitely needs updating throughout, shower pill hanging off the wall, twice I left the notice on the door to be cleaned and the room was. It cleaned I think lack of staff. I had to ask for clean towels ! Don’t think I would stay again!

Poor quality not worth the price
Stayed in room 274 deluxe room, initially getting into the room it did seem nice, until you started looking closer and you found a lot of spiders webs with spiders in them, in each corner of the room, The roof clearly must have ad a leak or damage at some stage as it looks like it’s going to fall through with the big crack above the bed, along with paint flakes and plaster falling from the roof. Their was several other things which added to a bad stay. The spa was also very disappointing, it did seem like it wasn’t completed inside and the jacuzzi went operational, and the other jacuzzi wasn’t working correctly. The showers in each male and female the body wash and shampoos were completely empty, the showers were also leaking through the handle in the females shower. The very kind man did give me a 20% refund for the room which was absolutely fantastic of him and we do think the staff were very kind and considerate. Overall the quality wasn’t right for the price of both the spa and room. Thanks Jamie

Glorified Travel lodge
The hotel was dirty, corridors and stairways looked liked they had not been vacuumed in quite a few days. The service was terrible as well, only one barman on the bar and there was a wedding party in, took ages to get served. The balustrade in the bar area was full of dust. Had the 3 course set menu for lunch, the mash was not mash and the cake was stale. Ended up ordering a burger in the evening which was £19, completely overpriced, two patties, loads of cheese and gherkins, came with french fries and tiny pot of coleslaw, no tomato, lettuce or onion on the burger. For that price you would expect everything on a burger, I don’t mind paying that price if it is worth it and it definitely wasn’t. Used the spa facilities at an extra cost, outside pool was a good experience but the steam room was filthy, along with the indoor pool area. The changing room showers had run out of washing products, no attention to detail at all. Breakfast was not good either, staff are stood chatting instead of being proactive. On a whole, it was not a great experience at all, which is a complete let down. This hotel could be amazing, the building is beautiful but staff aren’t attentive enough and it is in need of some much needed TLC. With the prices that they charge you would expect a lot more!!

Overall good and would stay again.
Really pleasant hotel. Staff super friendly. Evening meal can’t fault a single thing / great quality food with fantastic service. Overall up keep of hotel needs looking at. Our room was quite dusty (wouldn’t pass Four in A Bed) carpet was thread bare in some places. Comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was ok although menu online states veggie sausage / veggie bacon available and none to be found. Hubby played golf and said the course is exceptional for a Hotel course and would 100% recommend a buggy as it’s quite a challenging walk.

Run down.
Stayed here as an anniversary surprise for my pregnant girlfriend. Was looking forward to the stay until we arrived. The reception to the hotel is lovely as is the bar and restaurant. The rooms are very dated and require revamping nothing in the room matches and there isn’t even little luxuries such as air con or a hair dryer. The restaurant was fully booked so we ventured into Macclesfield for our evening meal. Not ideal. The spa cost £55 per person regardless of if you are a hotel guest or not which seems excessive considering the ceiling of the spa is covered in mould and also looks to be falling down. We left the spa after a hour and half the jacuzzi was also out of order left overall disappointed with our stay and we do not plan on returning the room cost £200 and needed a major revamp and was unclean in the bathroom and the spa cost £120 there are much better nicer hotels for less such as the titanic and mottram hall. It seems the money the hotel is making is not being put back into the hotel which is a shame. Rooms need properly cleaning before guests arrive. Staff in the restaurant need to be more welcoming we went for breakfast and was looking for a member of staff for 5 minutes to ask where the bathrooms were located. Not the service you expect to receive as full paying guests. The hotel is only worth visiting if it’s part of their room and spa offers on groupon etc but for full paying guests you left feeling robbed.

Rooms were very expensive for very dated rooms,, bar is very very expensive,, unfortunately there nothing within walking distance so they charge what they want ,,, annoyingly I was at the bar and my beer was £7.00 but the person next to me only payed £5.50 because he was a member of the golf club,, we was there for a marriage function so you would think they would charge the same as the golf club members as Iwe were members of the hotel/golf club for the two days we stayed there !!!! Will not be going back !!

We liked the location. We did not like the dirty room, unsafe bathroom, dirty furniture particularly in the Dining room but generally. No eggs at breakfast resulting in powdered scrambled egg!! Most importantly was the grubby, dirty condition of the hotel. The path from the car park to the hotel is very uneven with a broken surface. It’s particularly unsafe at night because it’s so badly lit. This is one of the poorest quality hotels I have ever stayed in.
