The inn is in an excellent location; however, the room was not to past standards. The bathroom was dark, the shower was chipped, the overall room feel was dark and slightly unkept.

The cottages are far more desirable and was a stop on my honeymoon decades ago. DO NOT stay in “the lodge” part of this hotel where we got stuck last weekend, which are separate, up the street, old, dirty, and run down. I do not appreciate how this hotel’s website fails to distinguish these clearly different properties when booking. The lodges walls and ceiling are thin, the walls were damaged and dirty, laminate flooring was put over uneven flooring, baseboards were comical (couldn’t cut a 45 angle so they just didn’t!), no USB plugs, cobwebs (some occupied), everything was just old. Landscaping outside our door was dirt. Our room and bathroom window abutted a work area so making for little privacy and annoying intrusion. To get to the fire pit or pool you need to walk down the street to the “nice part.” And breakfast was a bag takeout of things at that point I wouldn’t trust. We were happy to drive away.

It was clean, quiet and close to the beach. They had an optional breakfast that you have to pay for but the price is very reasonable and the food was excellent. The staff is very nice as well. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Lovely 25th Anniversary trip
We thought the place was nice. We stayed on the cottage side and had a king bed and the room had all we needed. TV worked, water got hot, fairly quiet weekend, convenient to Golf course and nice short walk to Asilomar State Beach. Had really nice fire pits and seating. The hot breakfast included in our room price was decent. We love that we could bring our 60lb. Pit mix and they are pet friendly. Short drive to Carmel and Monterey. We would stay again for sure.

Being one block from the ocean was about all this has going for it. The bathroom was very dark, maybe to hide the dirt. The grout on the edge of the tub was mostly missing and the rest was brown and deteriorated. The tub floor was stained with foot dirt and if you looked around the tub jets there was a lot of mold and dirt in the cavity. I could go on with other issues just in the bathroom. There were only 3 pillows on the king size bed (should be 4), and when I called the front desk to ask for another pillow I was asked “did you look in the closet?” I asked if they could bring another king sized pillow and they brought 3 small pillows and yes there was a small pillow in the closet. This place needs some major upgrading.

I would never stay here again. The unit I was in had been under construction with yellow caution tape around it, which the front desk failed to tell me about. The room was FULL of black mold. When I called to express concern, the Lady at the desk was rude, snarky, and condescending. She actually said to me, "What do you want me to do, build you a house?!" She actually tried to turn it around and say that I was yelling, which the two witnesses in the room said I did not do. I have never been treated so rudely by a hotel proprietor in my life. They did not have another room available as there was a conference in the area. She told me to check out, however, I had no where to go and no other hotel was available. The very least she could have done was offer a discount, but that was not going to happen. I called the health dept. Hopefully they will get them to do something about the mold. I took Pictures. It was disgusting.

The property is straight forwards d it is quite very close to downtown Pacific Grove and walking distance to the ocean and Golf is next door. What kept this from a 5 is the vent in the room was dirty and the screen door to the balcony had rip. Otherwise we enjoyed.
