Good Choice
Good choice for central Newbury and attending the horse racing. Plenty of parking, walkable to the course and local restaurants, comfortable rooms and decent breakfast with friendly and helpful staff.

The Hotel had a new check in computerized system that was far from efficient Th color lady on reception struggled with this and a very slow check in prevailed. She has been at the Chequers for some while and is alwayshappy and most efficent

This hotel is very dated. There is no elevator so we carried our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. There are very few electric outlets in the room and none by the bed. The room was stuffy and the window was difficult to open. The staff try to do their best. Would not stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights B&B. Very good price for area good variety of breakfast. Staff very helpful. Property is a old coaching inn so very large and quirky. Rooms are dated but comfortable.
