We enjoyed our stay, everything was as advertised. Had elk around the house most every morning. Close to lots of hiking. For us older folks there is 21 steps to the upper main house. Contacted the owner a couple times she was quick to respond & very helpful.

Great location
You can’t beat this location if you are here to hike! The place was well stocked and clean. Open floor plan so I would recommend to be very comfortable with the people you travel with. We will definitely be staying here again next year.

Best place to stay to see elk & redwoods!
My whole family enjoyed this property. So easy to hop on 101 and head to the beach, or State Park, or the market, or to see the Elk!!! Loved the fireplace, and kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinners.

Great central location for our needs
We had a good stay. Beware of the ladders going up to the upper rooms, they are challenging. (Even for my 12 year old grandson who hit his head several times.) The lack of doors for privacy is also a negative, but otherwise a comfortable spot.

Everything was great, but there were a lot of spiders in all the corners of the rooms we tried to vacuum them but the vacuum hose did not work and also there were fleas in the rug. I got bit a bunch of times. The surrounding area was beautiful and overall we had a great time.

Three Generations on a Road trip from MN.
We enjoyed our stay as it was an easy point to go exploring from. Because of the location we had no access to internet, phone or TV. When we were in an area with reception we tried to call Carol but the phone number told us it was not in service. Not sure what happened there. All in all it was a great place to stay. My grand daughter loved the loft space and even put on a play for my daughter and I.

Redwoods trip
The house is unique and affords privacy as there are no other properties nearby. It is easily accessible off of Highway 101 and is close to Prairie Creek State Park and Redwood National Park. It was a good place for us to stop for two nights on our way to Oregon.

Absolutely amazing and as advertised - and incredibly close to two of the best hikes, Trillium Falls and Fern Canyon. The perfect home base for our week in the Redwoods. Thank you!

Wonderful location
Lovely property in the perfect location for our visit to Redwood National Park and the various state parks. One of the hikes on our "must do" list could be done right from the property, and others were only a short distance away. The communication with the owner was outstanding, she was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to assist us given our travels were during the numerous severe rainstorms passing through the area.

Best possible location
I cannot say enough good things about this location. Yes, there is some road noise from 101, but it's not bad and given you can walk 200 yards to the Trillium Falls Trail, which we had to ourselves for 90minutes going clockwise, I would take a little traffic noise (and I come from a rural area with minimal traffic noise). Nancy was extremely responsive prior to and during our stay. Unfortunately the dryer died just before our stay (like literally hours as the last load of towels from housekeeping was just slightly damp), but otherwise all appliances worked well and Fridge filtered water, which was great. We were able to do 3 back-to-back quick showers without difficulty. Elk in the yard once and 500yards away by Davidson Rd/101 intersection several times. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who doesn't mind stairs. The loft ladders are steep, extremely sturdy and slight risk of head-bumping. I was nervous about young kids (youngest 7yo) coming down to use the bathroom at night, but they did fine. Wodnerful home and wonderful value.

Not quite what I had hoped
The house is as it looks a rustic house almost a cabin. The location is great for easily getting to many wonderful hikes. On the down side it is right off the main highway so you do not get the peaceful feeling the pictures imply due to the noise. We were both out of cell range (Verizon & T mobile) which was not so bad but the WiFi is very poor and was only usable when there was no one else at the property the minute someone else showed up it slowed to the point of just being a frustration. The beds were not all that comfortable over all we felt it was overpriced. It did not really give you that lost in nature feel due to the noise while simultaneously not having the amenities of being in town. however the location is hard to be for access to great trails.

Ideal location
I have a love/hate relationship with this property. First the good: the location is so perfect! The house is right in the National Park and so convenient to all the hiking trails, beautiful Redwood trees literally a few steps up the trail from the house yard, and the Elk come to graze on the lawn! It's so cool to stand on your own balcony to watch the elk up close and personal while all the other tourists are trying to catch a glimpse from their cars on the side of the road. We felt so privileged! We stayed 9 nights, so had the opportunity to hike many trails and watch the sunset on the beach literally a 5 min drive from the house. We explored as far south as Eureka and north to Crescent City. Staying in the middle of the things we wanted to see and do was perfect. We loved being so close to everything, being immersed in the nature and not crammed into a tiny hotel room. I also have food allergies, so a kitchen while traveling is a necessity. Now the not so good: The water situation at this house is really difficult to manage. I knew about it ahead of time from previous reviews, however, reading and experiencing are 2 different things. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when you will have water or none at all. My son fell into a patch of poison ivy while hiking and we came home to shower it off of him only to have no water at all at a low demand time of day. It comes back fairly quickly, but at the time you're standing there naked and cold and soapy, it's awful. We also experienced a propane leak (?)/odor for our last 2 nights in the double loft which was a huge inconvenience and sleep disruption. I also had zero ability to use my cell phone, neither texts nor calls, even when walking down to the road to get better reception. It is kind of scary sleeping in a new place alone in the woods with your children with zero ability to call for help if something happened during the night. Most of the area has zero cell coverage, so this is not unique to this house, but something to be aware of. The house could also use a deep cleaning. All the high use areas were really clean, but the deep cleaning like corners, baseboards, vents, hard to reach areas had alot of accumulated dust and dirt. All in all, the positives outweigh the negatives, and we would stay here again. If you do stay here, be prepared to rough it a little. If you like luxury travel, then this isn't the place for you.

Excellent Location & Accomodations
We wanted to be in the Redwoods and this was the perfect location! We were near several hiking trails, Redwood Adventures (for tours) and 5 minutes to a small grocery store. The kids loved the setup - the “thank you, mom” for finding this place was heard several times! We had a wonderful time. The communication was quick - this is perfect for a family!
