The staff were friendly and helpful.The superior lodge we stay in was clean but in need of updating. Shower door didn’t close properly and was in need of re-tiling, sofas were uncomfortable, cobwebs in high ceilings, oven gloves needed in kitchen, generally in need of redecorating. Hot tub checked everyday and was a lovely addition to our stay.

Great lodge and facilities but it looks tired and dated. On arrival at the lodge we found a dirty sock in the bed under a duvet, that’s just disgusting and obviously not cleaned to the level they advertise!

Above and Beyond

This was our second visit to Retallack, and it did not disappoint. The weather was abysmal, but our accommodation was outstanding! Spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, it felt like home away from home. The staff was warm and friendly, and ever so helpful. We took advantage of the pool, which was a great break after breakfast. The changing rooms were a bit tired, but in no way did they diminish our experience. Everything was just what we needed. This will not be our last visit. We are already planning to visit with family, in a larger barn. Can't wait!! Thanks Retallack!

A nice property in a good location, however there were a number of cobwebs, mould and dirt over the floor. The property was starting to look a bit dated and missing some amenities for example an oven glove and scissors. The hot tub was lovely but it’s disappointing when you’re only staying for 3 nights that on the first night it isn’t up to temperature so can’t be used. We used the resort pool, nice pool, changing rooms not so nice, showers freezing! It would also be useful to know there is a washing machine and I couldn’t find it listed anywhere so took more clothes than needed. Also work going on at the resort so on Monday morning you could hear it!

Amazing

Such an amazing stay. The barn was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The staff were all lovely, polite and welcoming. The hot tub was worth the extra money and was hot and clean. The location was perfect and was within a 20 minute drive of several beaches and harbour towns.

it was quite disappointing to be honest, it wasn’t very clean, hardly any glasses in kitchen so lacking crockery the hot tub we paid extra for didn’t work properly, was cold and wasn’t warming up

Relaxing break

Lovely resort. We visited out of season and at a very quiet time so there was ver little available. The bar was open for drinks and hot beverages but no food. We has considered this and had taken our own as we didn’t expect the resort to be fully running at the end of February. Pool was open which was warm and good size to swim in. Lovely accommodating and welcoming staff. We had an apartment by the lake. It was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. View from patio was very relaxing just a shame it rained so hard. Had no hot water the night we arrived but a trip to reception and it was attended to within ten minutes. Will definitely stay again.

Cleanliness & Condition leave a lot to be desired

The perfect park for exploring lower Cornwall, but some of the the properties need some serious TLC. On this occasion our Valentine Weekend was almost ruined by the condition and cleanliness of the place. Filthy outside with used tissues, twigs and grit strewn across the entrance. Outside light broken. Filthy glasses, poorly placed sockets, unfinished sockets, missing fixtures, a cupboard with open soil pipes and electrics, a dirty and leaking shower, and a wooden side table on the decking half rotten from the wet. Classified as Luxury but it didn’t warrant anything above a Comfort Level. To top it off, the Bar/Restaurant appear to be able to close when they want without notice. Not even Reception know what’s going on. I have tried to highlight my findings to Away Resorts directly who showed no interest in responding and referred me to Hotels dot com as the Agent. It’s hardly the agents fault and despite their apparent communication with Away Resorts, they are telling me they have had no response. If this was my place, I’d want to know, and put right the condition along with issuing an apology. If I go back I shall be choosy about what I choose and expecting better

What a find, luxury lodges a stone throw away from transport links to the whole of Cornwall. 25 mins from Padstow without all the hustle and bustle. Brilliant clean lodges with all the luxuries with a shop, restaurant, bar, pool, gym and spa on site

Nice getaway but run down and needed some TLC

nice place for a long weekend in winter, Not sure id want to come in peak season as the amenities were very limited. We stayed in a wooden lodge that in all honesty felt tired and not cared for. Kitchen felt like as things had broken over time they had not been replaced. décor needed a freshen up and a thorough clean through out as there was a lot of dust and cobwebs. The outside furniture was moldy due to being left out in all weathers and definitely wasn't something you wanted to spend time sat on. We paid extra for a lodge with a hot tub but this felt overlooked by other properties. The pool changing rooms were filthy and none of the lockers had keys. Staff were friendly. The onsite restaurant looked ok but we didn't eat there due to limited choices for my wife. I imagine getting a table in peak season is difficult as it is only small for the number of properties onsite. Overall it was ok to spend a couple of days as a winter break but I wouldn't want to pay the peak season rates for what we had.

stuck at 33.7 degrees) at 9am the morning after our arrival and was told someone would be out to fix it. We stayed in that morning as we had planned to use the hot tub. No one came to look at the hot tub. By 1.30 I called again and was told that although no one had been out it wasn’t fixable. When I asked how they knew this and why if it wasn’t working we had been put into this Barn the member of staff backtracked and said they’d check with the hot tub maintenance team. They then said they would be out to us next as we were top of the list. We were told WITHOUT asking that we would be fully refunded for the day we were unable to use the hot tub and that it would be ready on Saturday evening. We went out and when were returned the hot tub was again 33.7 degrees. We tried calling but the line was busy. We specifically booked a Barn with a hot tub as we were planning to use it for New Year’s Eve. This obviously could not happen. The next morning the hot tub was still 33.7 degrees (the temperature was being maintained by the hot tub so it was functioning, just not heating). In the 1st January I tried to call again and again the line was busy. That afternoon a person arrived to check the chemical levels, he was about to leave when I stopped him and asked if it was working. He said ‘yes it’s working’. I said ‘but it’s not hot’, it’s not heating up. No compensation offered.

Best winter mini break

We had a wonderful stay in a 6 berth lodge. The weather outside was dismal but the lodge was warm and cosy and provided everything we needed. A lovely surprise to have a dressed christmas tree sparkling at us upon arrival, very sweet touch. All the staff, reception, restaurant, maintenance men and cleaning staff were all lovely too. The only issue that I would comment on, which isn't a fault but more of a preference is the TV did not have access to any movie channels i.e. Netflix, Prime etc. Due to the weather being so bad it just would have been nice... Definitely would come again and highly recommend.
