It was ideally located, and the gardens were beautiful. The staff was unhelpful as we walked in with multiple bags. They just kind of looked at us? The hotel is in major need of a renovation. The room smelled like must, the pool was in poor condition. The beach was beautiful, but you had to pay $45 for umbrellas and chairs and they wouldn’t let you sit in the first row that was reserved that no one ever came to sit in, the gardens with hammocks & Games set up. The staff at the pool bar was excellent and the food was really good.

The location was great, very walkable. The pool, back area, access to the beach and sound were very nice. Staff was helpful and friendly. Overall it was decorated well, including the room. My only two complaints about the room I was in: please provide more places to put luggage, perhaps another rack or a shelf that can bear weight. The very small bathroom was in poor condition. The tub didn't drain, the sink dripped endlessly, the door would barely open, and the overall condition poor. Not dirty, just in bad shape (walls, fixtures, floor, etc).

Nice beach setting but we had some issues
Two main issues and one minor one. Room was not ready at check-in time 4 PM). No apologies for the delay. The front desk said they'd give me a call when it was ready but they never did. I contacted them after an hour and as the room was ready we checked in. The person checking me in did not bother to tell me which elevator to use so we stumbled around for awhile before finding our room. We paid (a lot) for a sea view but half of our view was obstructed by trees and they would not let us change. The walls in our room did not block sound so we lost a lot of sleep the second night as we could hear the couple next door talking until quite late. Those are the major complaints. There were a couple of minor ones. Food left in the hallway by the occupants next door was not removed for well over 12 hours. Coffee is not available until 7 AM unless you use the machine in the room. And, when we checked out, the person at the front desk did not ask us the usual "How was your stay?"

The Blockade Runner is a good safe bet on WB. You can’t beat its location and they’ll likely never be any more hotels permitted on WB so they have a bit of a captive market. That said their guest services are top notch, the front lawn and beachfront access can’t be beaten. Parking and valet guys are great. Servers at the bar and pool are great. The sailboats, kayaks and access to the harbor side activities is fantastic. It’s so close to the shops, and restaurants down near South Beach too. The property itself….rooms, elevators, etc need a facelift but it’s always kinda been that way. It could use a total gut reno inside but there’s no real incentive to do so because there’s just one other hotel in the island.

This is an overpriced, overrun and unkempt hotel. The only redeeming quality was its location being right on the beach and in a walkable area. We rented chairs and umbrella for one day and the tent had a hole in it and has definitely seen better days. The pool area was very run down: had weeds growing out of the cracks in the patio, cigarette butts, huge chunks of pant missing, mildew awning over the bar, no lining in the pool itself/just rough concrete… the list goes on. For the room itself, you can tell they tried to update it with trendy furniture but the shower had discoloration/wear and tear, the door to the bathroom literally wouldn’t close, there was a roach when we first arrived and the cleaning between evenings was minimal. I could have looked past all of this but a number of staff also seemed checked out and uninterested in making guests have a positive experience. On our way out, we requested a cart to take out things down and the employee accidentally dropped a bag with some food in it, which spilled onto the ground. He proceeded to say curse multiple times but did not apologize. I told him I wasn’t upset about the spilled food. He was rude though the entire process, even though we tipped him. However, there was one pool bartender that was fabulous, I wish I got his name! It would have been one thing if this was a cheap beach motel, but this was pretty pricey, so I expected better quality and customer service.

Beautiful resort and friendly staff. Great view of the Harbor from our room. Only complaint is the mattresses needed to be replaced. We will come back and stay on our next trip out to Wrightsville!

Lovely oceanfront hotel. The gardens & lawn area are fabulous. Enjoyed the hammocks on the lawn. Really loved seeing all the bunnies in the garden area! Nice to have fire pits available to enjoy in the evening. I would definitely return.

Nice place to stay our stays was nice, we got breakfast one time very slot service and mistake order, for 3 People $70 Dlls. pool bar staff was excellent. We be charge for Parking was $19 plus $1.33 STATE TAX OTHER???? What??? I thought was part of the hotel service if you park but yourself, valet parking more $$, beach umbrella and 2 chairs another $45 dollar plus $3.15 ACT STATE SALES TAX!!! per day, housekeeping service was good. The AC was to loud. Sometime have to turn up to not be so loud I can sleep at night
