Really disappointed with our stay. Our room (610) was showing some heavy signs of wear (chipped wood, dented walls, worktops blistering and chipped) and the bathroom was as very underwhelming. The toilet was loose from the wall, and some tiles beneath the shower were also coming away from wall. The sink didn’t look particularly well cleaned. The real disappointment though was the state of the fur throw on the bed, which has some unsavoury marks on the underside which we discovered on our second night. (We won’t post the unpleasant pictures of these marks) The underneath of the desk is also very dirty which we discovered when searching for a dropped key. Probably wouldn’t recommend.

Aside from the air conditioning/heating keeping us up all night even when it was turned off, the hotel was pretty good - the staff were excellent. I'd say it's a bit pricey for what you get, but it is a city centre. Beware - breakfast, even when it wasn't particularly busy, took an age to come out and is massively overpriced. It was nice, but you can have twice as much for half the price at a premier inn - and it comes quicker! Oh, and the cocktails in the bar were exceptional! Overall okay...

There was hair on the bathroom floor together with other bits of stuff. Bathroom was generally not very clean and the state of repair was poor - chipped/peeling/bubbling paint on the door. The grouting was black in places. The walls barely had one coat of patchy paint with old repairs hardly covered up. The shower was poor at best and I’d always considered Malmaisons to be good at showers. And, just to top it off, the AC made a horrible racket all night, even after I turned it off.

Excellent and quick check in. Staff very courteous. 2nd time we've used Malmaison , Liverpool and now Birmingham, we like their style of hotels. Plenty of towels teas coffee etc. Beers cocktails and music are always good in the bar in the evenings. Excellent for 02 academy or mailbox shopping and a short walk to the arena area.

Our stay was overall lovely. Staff were great. Loved our room, bed was very comfortable. We'd requested a cot and there was one waiting in our room along with bedding and a changing mat. Breakfast options 10/10. Parking was a bit on the pricey side but it was very easy to go back and forth to the car if we needed anything. Only reason for 4 stars is we opted to order room service due to the baby being asleep and my partner having a leg injury so was in a boot. When I called down to order we were told they can only bring up cold continental breakfast but no hot food. So I had to go collect it by myself in a big tray, that was prepared very well to be fair. However, I really struggled to carry it through even the first pull door to the lift as I needed both hands to hold everything, then again struggled to get my swipe card to activate the lift to even go back up to our room. Thank goodness for the cleaner, I forget her name but something along the lines of Apinyah? She saw me struggle at the lift and helped me all the way upstairs. Eternally grateful to her. Would still definitely stay there again.
