This was a great hub for our 4 day stay in Chiang Mai. We arrived early in the morning via night train from Bangkok and they let us into our rooms right away, which was nice, because we could secure our bags before heading out to check out the city. We had two private rooms (not the bunk rooms). Location was good for exploring Chiang Mai and nearby areas. The staff was friendly and helpful and the bedroom was tidy. It was nice to have laundry facilities as our stay was about halfway through our two-week Thailand trip.
Situated just outside the old City on a busy street..Too bad that the staff didn't speak enough English to answers questios. We stayed in double twin bed room with private bathroom and had AC.Was very clean and spacious!
I was recommended this hostel as a solo traveller. I booked 3 nights but didn't see more than 3 travellers the whole time. This may be due to the time of year but wouldn't recommend SOHO unless you are in a group/couple. The rooms and communal area are great, really clean and modern, wifi drops in and out sometimes but in lobby is fine. Staff are OK but not overly friendly other than one guy who checked me in early and also offered to lend me insect repellent and bite spray one night when it was raining. Overall clean modern and good location near the night bazaar but wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to meet people.
Overall was good the rooms looks newly done, but there were a few hair found in the shower. Had to request for a room change due to some disgusting stink that came out of the AC unit.

Ok Stay
Rooms looks mordern, new. Location was perfect. Shower temperature and pressure was horrible. Much improvements needed in the bathroom area!!
Good location and close proximity to night market.
It's value for money. The room is clean n well maintained. All your travel needs are easily accessible such as supermarket Big C, your tour booking can be done right at the reception desk, many eating places around. Definitely recommendable.
Washrooms were never in clean states, even when they were cleaned they still smelt and dirt was everywhere.
No toilet paper in washroom, no soap or shampoo provided.
Rooms and sheets were never cleaned or changed for the 4 nights we were there.
Hotel staff was always very unfriendly or too busy on their cell phones to care help people out. (with the exception of one or two ppl)
Overall for the services and style of Hostel being portrayed this was a fail. The nicest things about the hotel are the lobby and common areas (from the pics) which are relatively up kept.
Would not stay there again.
The staff is very rude and were not helpful at all during my stay. The bathrooms were filthy dirty and the staff did not bother to clean them. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! Great location but horrible customer service!

Good stay here. Well looked after and was good value for money. We stayed in the private double room.
Location was good - close to the Old City, the markets, and places to eat. At nighttime, the street gets sketchy but never felt unsafe. While there was a huge common area, barely anyone utilized it so there was no chance to socialize. The rooms were dusty and had trash laying on the floor, and the bathrooms were grimy and dirty. Staff weren't that friendly but they did answer the questions I had.
The private rooms in this hostel are same as any hotel. Clean place in great location, perhaps a bit overpriced and the room was pretty dark because small window facing wall of building next door.
This is a hostel but they have a floor of rooms that are same as any hotel. Great location, very clean, spacious room.
Only negatives = room was dark due to small window and facing wall of building, staff aren't friendly at all

Mediocre for a great price
The bed was really squeaky. The room size was large enough for half occupancy. I stayed in a room with two others in a room for eight. Thankfully I didn't really need to take a shower during my 16 hour stay because I have no idea where to find a towel. Wi-Fi sucked because it booted you every few minutes and the front desk staff did not understand any bits and pieces of English
SoHostel is a great place, not far from the old town about 5-10 minutes... There's plenty to see around the area, in a reasonably quiet road, but further along towards the old town it gets busy with bars and massage establishments.
Overall stay was pleasant, nice clean room, could sleep around 12 people.
Washrooms were fine, they could do with something to hang your clothes, towel etc.
But over all a great find, and great stay...for the price which is remarkable.
Beds were terrible, wifi was frustratingly sporadic, but the rooms were clean and bathroom large. The staff was helpful and friendly. Location is perfect for night bazaar and bars

Nice Hostel and good budget.
Just stay 1 night here everything ok, Middle town near shopping market.
The worst hotel stay ever in my life! I've booked the female dorm. But there was a guy came in the ladies' room when we were taking shower in the morning at six. I've made complaints but except for some giggles, no feed backs' come back to me. My bed sheet's worn out in all 4 parts at the corners. Shower water runs very slowly. And the room got some very unpleasant smell all day long.
Eventually my hair and clothes got this strange smell all day long.
There is no place for us to hang out our towels and washed clothes.
Only the so-called supervisor could speak little English and she's available only 2 or 3 hours in every afternoon.
I am very curious why this hotel got so high reviews, coz if for the good location, there are more than 40 hotels near around with different rankings. It does make my journey a really bad beginning and I sure hope no one is gonna have the same experiences like me.
