A wonderful ryokan stay with exceptional Kaiseki dinner, with dinner served in our room. Kaiseki was mostly made with produce well known in the prefecture, made with a lot of care and was so delicious. Breakfast was buffet style, which was a mix of Japanese and continental - nothing exceptional, but still decent! Especially important to be able to converse in some basic Japanese here, however they do have a few talented young staff (ours was Inoue-san) who are able to converse in decent English during dinner and made our stay especially memorable. My partner is not Japanese speaking, and she insisted she would try her best to speak in English so I wouldn’t need to always translate. The staff were also kind and helpful in general. The onsen in the room was lovely and private enough the despite the ryokan not being far from a road. The massage chair was an added bonus for cold and stiff muscles. Room was clean, spacious and very quaint - will certainly come back!
