Perfect overnight base before ferry
Perfect for our overnight stay before getting the Harwich ferry. Staff friendly on check in which was ideal after an 8 hour trip to Colchester. Ideal for what we needed travelling with our wee one. Included breakfast was great and free parking was ideal.

Room smelt like cigarette smoke ,air conditioning didnt work only one window opened it was so hot in the room , lots of food lef in the corridors smelt awful, lift not working, very noisy from 6am with very loud cleaning in the next room starting at 8.30am so couldnt lay in. Breakfast said untill 10.30am got down at 10.15am and it was closed off complelty. Tryed to complain to male staff member that was to busy to care. Terrible stay with virtually no sleep.

Not a great hotel. Poor breakfast, juice machines not working, couldn’t shower due to low pressure, fire alarm going off at 2am. Not a great stay at all. Sofa bed was so uncomfortable. Wouldn’t go back at all. However, staff were friendly and polite.

The staff made this visit, hotel tired
Hotel suited our needs, a few nights visiting family was basic though, beds not very comfy so glad only staying 3 nights, room hadn’t been hoovered, cobwebs all up no the walls and a good few months old, no attention to detail when room Had been cleaned We were are the ground floor corridor smelt very damp, carpet all lumpy needs re fitting I didn’t raise these with the site as it was clear that the hotel was very very under staffed, and the the ones that were working were trying their best, one poor guy had worked the last 36 hours with only a few hours sleep He looked shattered but was still helpful polite Issues on site need addressing by the Managment owners and get more staff, the ones you have can’t do everything

The hotel itself is ok and good value for money, but the breakfast was lacking a lot of components, the hot food section was empty at times and there was no butter which is basic. The pastry and cereal sections were also almost empty at 09:00 when breakfast is served till 09:30. The quality of good wasn’t great, the hash browns were chewy and not great. Napkins were missing at times and trays were not clean. The fire alarm kept going on, including at 4am (!), and lifts were not working due to a power cut. However, the staff were very helpful and kind and compensated with bar vouchers and other treats.

Nice reception staff. Rooms had dust flying in the air all the time. Sofa bed for teenage kids was not suitable at all- all next day both were complaining with back and neck pain as it was so uncomfortable. Not even mentioning that there was no space to move around as sofa was squeezed in normal size room- not even close to family rooms We had in the past.We had fire alarm every time kitchen start using oven for dinner and breakfast-alarm at 4:30am was the worst one. Breakfast very basic. Was good price but thats it really. Happy it was only one night we stayed as very uncomfortable in general.

Awful experience
Awful experience. Arrived to no one at the desk. Waited 10 minutes due to EVERY room electric locking not working. This meant the staff had to open every guest door once closed. Then our room was not made up for a 5 year old. 2 cots instead of sofa bed. This told 1 hour at 9 pm to correct. When our 5 year old was asleep in the double bed. Breakfast, arrived at 8.50am to limited food. The place was very messy and dirty. Only 2 members of staff for the reception and breakfast. Hardly any food left!!! This is unacceptable when breakfast is offered until 9.30am. Fire alarm, this went off at 4am. Waking up our two children. This stopped after 3 minutes. Room was situated beside the ground floor no smoking entrance to the hotel. When we left the window open guests work be regularly smoking and our room then filled with cigarettes smoke. Informed reception. Guests were rude when staff asked them to stop smoking. Why would you have a bench beside a entrance of a hotel with a cigarette bin beside it and no smoking signs. Of course guests are going to smoke!!!! Very dangerous to have our 2 month old baby near smoke!!! We will never stay here again.
