Wonderful location
I loved the remoteness of this wee cottage. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, with lots of lovely walks, then this is ideal. The cottage is powered by a generator, which you can hear but soon get used to. Make sure you bring everything you need, it’s a fair trek to the nearest shop! My dog ran around the forest all day long and slept all night and I chilled out with a glass or two of wine. I hope to visit again in the not too distant future.

Wonderful Wilderness
Just perfect for a “get away from it all” break. Lovely cottage, cozy with all we needed. Amazing setting and so peaceful. Our dogs enjoyed the walks in the forest. Would definitely come back again.

Disgusting stinking horrific
We stayed inside the property for 5 minutes as the house was not as described; it was advertised as a one bedroom property however the bedroom, living room and kitchen were all in the one room. The place was extremely smelly, sticky and very unhygienic. The property is advertised as being able to accommodate up to 5 pets, and as this is the case the cleanliness level should be exemplary. This is also not suitable for pets and young children as there is no enclosed garden area and the property is right next to a railway line. I complained to the owner who told me that if I posted any negative feedback he would take me to court in Wick to potentially sue me for £3000 for ‘false’ feedback. He also stated that the property was for 2 adults and 2 children, however this is advertised online as being for 4 ‘people’. I feel it’s my duty to let the public know of my horrific experience, travelling for over 4 hours to stay for less than 5 minutes due to the dire state of the property. I have requested a full refund, and as of yet, this has fallen on deaf ears!

Highly recommend
We spent 3 days, 3 adults & a dog, and this was exactly the peace & quiet we were looking for. Stunning, dramatic landscape, wildlife galore, lochs and beautiful views where ever you look. The cottage is lovely, clean and cosy with everything you need. Being able to watch the deer & birds of prey from the cottage was amazing. Thank you to our host, Teppy, very friendly and helpful. Who met us on route to the cottage and also helped when we went off course while out fishing. Big thank you for that xx We look forward to coming back xxxx

Wow
Arriving at the property, was breathtaking. The long single track road was a pleasure to drive, wildlife galore and plenty of photo opportunities. We were met and shown our cottage, the location is out of this world and the cottage, cosy and wild, had all we needed. Thank you for great communication, and a fantastic adventure, we never laughed as much as we did, driving down the tracks.

Exactly what we needed ❤️
Even though it took us a 12 hours drive to get to the cottage, we would do it all over again in a blink of an eye. We are a family of 4, two adults + two young children + our giant breed dog (found it hard to find a place for him due to his size 😔- this place had no concerns about, size or bread, which was an absolute winner in our case) We had enough room all of us. We were surprised to find the kitchen 's cupboards filled with supplies (emergency supplies), so definitely a bonus if you run out of something, as the nearest shop is about 1 hour away. The cottage has everything you need and it is indeed in the middle of nowhere and you don't see humans 😁The walks and drives are endless. We have found lochs( that were not even on the map) with sandy beachs and shallow water that was warm and the children splashed all day in them. An absolutely amazing experience. Would highly recommend the place (obviously to like minded people as it might not be everybody's cup of tea). Thank you and really hoping to return soon 🤗

Badnaheen cottage
Great place to stay, the trains passing by was fun for the kids. Only downside is the midges but that's expected and you should be coming prepared for that anyway. Forsinain track is much easier than the other routes, and I wouldn't advise going the route past the lodge as it's got very deep puddles in the road next to the 2nd loch. The cottage is nice with plenty of space and the cooking facilities are decent although the wood fired oven can take a long time and a lot of wood to get hot enough. There's a microwave and George Formby grill for faster food if you're in a rush. Plenty of options around if you're into walking and fishing, I'm sure we'll be going back.

Best place to relax
We were greeted at the gate on arrival and taken to the cottage where we were shown how everything works. The host( Bruce) was more than helpful, and alongside Tammy no effort was too much to make our stay enjoyable. The cottage has all the necessities for a comfortable stay. We had lots of walks on the grounds, my husband fished and our dog just loved the freedom. We will return!

Absolutely ‘away from it all’
If you’re looking for absolutely ‘away from it all’ this little gem is unmatched. (But without needing a boat to get there!). Nicely developed house with modern kitchen. Properly in the middle of nowhere. Spring water is provided and there is a spring nearly for refilling. Forestry road is passable in a low-profile car, very very slowly, SUV would be better. The property has electricity via a petrol/diesel generator in the shed. Very kind welcome on this occasion from the owner’s son who took time to go over anything. Amazing wilderness walking nearby.

Back to the roots...
