The Adelphi has definitely seen better days and is badly in need of complete refurbishment but having said that the location, price, cleanliness and staff couldn’t be faulted - we had a lovely last minute stay after our trains were cancelled. The bar staff were attentive and friendly and the front desk staff could not have been more helpful. The room was huge with a separate wardrobe area and a separate bathroom The rooms were old but very clean, heated towel rails and lovely toiletries were all provided I’d highly recommend if like us, you’re looking for value for money and are not fussy about style and don’t intend to be in the room long.

Great price + location, fine for solo travellers
Just needed somewhere to sleep close to Lime Street. It was ok for a solo traveller and far cheaper than most hotels in the city centre - it has old fashioned rooms and reception area but it is clean. I found it hard to sleep because of the loud plumbing/boilers every few mins and the bed was not great; I could feel the springs. The shower was poor and not good water pressure but I had a bath instead and that was fine. Weirdly there was no main light in my room either, just lamps at the bedside. I arrived at the hotel late - there were some unsavoury characters near the entrance and I had to show bouncers my confirmation email just to reach reception which was a little alarming but I get that it was a Saturday night in the city centre so the security was probably necessary.

Been here 17x, according to my Expedia app, never paid over £37 midweek, I sort of love it. You never know what it's gonna be like with every room different. So much better than the chain hotels which are all the same. However this time the room was cold. I went to reception to be told the heating is on a timer. However it never came on we did get a plug in radiator but it wasn't big enough for the massive room and are you supposed to move it into the bathroom before you use it? Me thinks them chain hotels will get a try out on my next visit

Cheap for obvious reasons, dated and desperately needs updating, heating does not appear to work. Arrived Thursday, that was the only time tea / milk was in the room unless I helped myself off trolly.

Sadly felt very run down and freezing cold - no heating working and told it would come on at half 6 and half 9 but that it was currently broken but being fixed. No temporary heating supplied.
