This hotel is simply wonderful. It's location on the banks of the Tweed with the ruins of Drybrugh Abbey next door is gorgeous. Yes, in places the hotel is aging, but this adds to it's appeal. It exudes character and is a million milmes away from the sterile chain hotels. We did stay in one of the better rooms with a view of the river so this may cloud my judgement - some other cheaper rooms at the back of the hotel are less appealing but at a good price and with this location you'll still fall in love with this place. All the staff were really nice and cheerful too so I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

This hotel is housed in a beautiful building on a lovely site. The room was very nice with a good en-suite. The shame is that dinner was not served in the Tweed restaurant but in the bistro which is OK at best. It had a limited menu albeit the food was decent. Breakfast in the Tweed restaurant was good although service was slightly erratic. It would have been so nice to have a good dinner in the restaurant as one might expect in a hotel of this nature.

Disappointing anniversary stay, can't add photos!
We booked the hotel for our 19th wedding anniversary. We arrived early but understood that the room wasn't ready until 3pm check in time. However, the room wasn't properly cleaned. My husband returned the two glasses of different sizes back to reception as they were dirty. The coffee mugs, also different sizes, had been rinsed but not dried and were very wet inside. The kettle was full of water. There were cobwebs on walls and windows. The bath was sparkling clean, but the basin tap was so loose it moved when you tried to turn the tap and there was no plug. The bedroom decor (room 320)is bland and boring, with soft furnishings reminiscent of an old fashioned retirement home. The bed was superking, two singles pushed together but not zipped and linked. But it was comfortable and the linen was clean. There were 4 wall lights in a row above the head of the bed with dreadful pink shades and the fittings needed tightening to the walls as they spun around if touched. The bulbs must also have been the lowest wattage possible! Most staff were lovely and there was a nice view of the river. We had dinner and food was average, service a little chaotic. However, breakfast was not cooked to order as expected but buffet style. If we'd been made aware, we'd have arrived at service time at 0730 to eat whilst it was hot. We arrived at 0830 and it was barely warm. Breakfast finished at 0930. All in all, a disappointing stay and not worth £152 a night. We wouldn't stay here again or recommend.

Nice
Room was clean an well presented although bathroom appeared smaller tgan advertised pictured (still decent sized but expected bigger bath). The grounds were worth tbe trip as it was very quiet and the scenery was great. My wife and I were not huge fans of the food on offer however there were options a short drive away.

An amazing hotel. We had an easy check in. A beer followed by an excellent meal. The staff were amazing and the other guests were charming. They do allow dogs. If you are into fly fishing, they are on the banks of the river Tweed and a path and steps lead you down. We intend on going back for a longer stay
