Lakeside Luxe

Kick back on the deck in Summer time with a fresh, cold drink, and drink in the expansive view held before you. Or, the perfect mid-winter getaway, rug up and stay cosy by the fire as you watch the snow line the rocks below, along the lakes edge.

This, is not a shack. This is comfortable, cosy, modern and tastefully finished to suit the most fastidious.

As you descend the driveway, you'll find there is a large double car port to park out of the weather and access into the house from here. The driveway does continue down to the lake, and does continue along to the boat ramp - particularly handy for Winter time. Surrounded by native Australian foliage, the house overlooks the lake and has a deck that wraps around the front of the house and floor to ceiling double glazed windows to keep the cold out and the view in.

Inside you'll find three bedrooms, two rooms with views across the lake. A huge main bedroom has a queen ensemble, wardrobes for extended stays and a desk for anyone needing to keep in touch with the outside world. There are a further two beds, one queen and one double, and also a fold out couch for a slightly larger group. The beds have been made up with only the most luxurious, comfortable bedding so for busy adventurers, you can fall into bed and sleep easy.

There are washing facilities and also a fenced area especially designed for dogs, so you can bring your furry friends with you!

A large stone fireplace and cathedral ceilings command a huge open plan living zone that has everything you could want for a weekend away, no matter what the weather. Board games and puzzles, something for everyones taste, smart TV and internet access - so if it's raining or snowing, you can still put a line out by the lake and come back and snuggle up in the warmth.
The main living area is so large, there are three seating areas. Two surround huge wood fires, while the third creates a picture window to the lake.

If you decide not to dine out while away, never fear, there is a full kitchen with all the basics you would need to cook a meal. Luxe appliances, include induction cook top, gas burner and digital gas oven. Why not create a platter or pan fry your catch?

The list of inclusions for this property are extensive. The house lends itself to a lifestyle of adventure and comfort. Enjoy it when you can.

PLEASE NOTE **** There is a steep driveway, most vehicles are fine depending on conditions and driver, if any guest is not comfortable to go up the driveway then the driveway continues down the short distance to the lake and boat ramp.

Great Lake Stay
The property itself and the position looking over the lake was magical, especially with the floor to ceiling windows in the living area. The only complaint is that inside it does need a deep clean throughout…but we will definitely be back.

Quite private with Good lake views but badly managed
We arrived on June 6 for 5 nights. We tried to cook dinner. There was no gas to either the kitchen hob or the main bathroom which was used by 2 bedrooms. Only the ensuite had hot water. So no hot water in the kitchen sink either. The gas was not supplied until 8 June. We discovered later that the local General Store which is 5 minutes away had a lockable storage with gas cylinders. Kitchen utensils were terrible and need to be replaced. The coffee milk warmer had coffee beans in it?7 lights did not work. Waste bin in the bathroom was dirty and disgusting. Two sauspans with teflon were so badly scratched that teflon flakes were in the food. Teflon contains toxins so we threw out the food. The electric frypan had no lid so was only partly useful. The bread knife would not easily cut bread. Knives were mostly blunt and there was nothing to sharpen them. The only positives were the lake view, adequate heating and comfortable beds. The manager told us that we would be compensated for the lack of gas. We only received a bottle of wine when the gas arrived.

Lovely view
The view is just amazing, the place is huge, peaceful and quite. Very well equipped. On the downside: there is no spa or hot tub, be prepared to take your rubbish with you (would be nice to know before you arrive!), 4WD driveway, no firewood, fly screens need to be changed (holes size of a fist). Still we had an enjoyable stay and can highly recommend this accommodation Thx Gabi and Artur

Beautiful House
Very friendly welcome with many delicious food. The house is huge, very clean and very well equipped. The view over the lake is wonderful. But guests should be informed in advance that waste disposal is 20km away in order to organize. Overall we enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this accommodation

Great holiday house with fantastic views!
Great views of Great Lake from living area and balcony. Very spacious living area and kitchen. Glad we had a 4WD to tackle the step driveway as I can see it would be an issue for some 2WD vehicles. I only wish it had a BBQ. Definitely recommended. Hope to be back again soon.

Great location and layout and generally clean. But could do with a deep clean and some little maintenance. The driveway is steep, very steep, and difficult to egress. Good bed, very comfortable and warm. Great house to sit and watch the lake and the sun go down.

Winter Escape with snow
The location was amazing. Beautiful place in the world with great views. We were fortunate to have a mix of sunshine, rain and snow during our Winter escape to Miena. The house was well appointed and generous. A few pantry staples were handy given our late arrival time. Fireplaces were needed to keep warm and the room heaters were a must. We did have to purchase wood from the local General Store. Unfortunately, the wood heap was open to the elements (wet) and many of the blocks were oversize and unusable. The house is short drive to the The Great Lake Hotel who had quality meals. The local Great Lake General Store is also easily accessible and well stocked for supplies. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Amazing location
This house is right on the lake, absolutely amazing view as you walk into the lounge. Could have looked at the view all day. This house is as great as the pictures show. The lounge dining kitchen area is huge and modern and fabulous. The kitchen has everything you need and the host even leaves goodies for you to enjoy. The whole house is incredibly comfortable with great bedrooms and large bathrooms. Massive balcony to enjoy that view. There are fishing gear, games, books and videos to enjoy. This is a real home away from home, wish we could have stayed longer than 3 nights. There are two fabulous restaurants both 5 minutes drive away if you are like us and don’t want to cook. There are great walks along the waterfront and we had terrific weather to enjoy it. The comms with the host were quick and detailed, best ever had. The driveway? Ok it is a bit steep (I have seen worse) but it is not long (maybe 30-50m). I wasn’t worried driving down and there is plenty of room to turn around to try to drive up. Unfortunately our car couldn’t get up (as it isn’t sealed and has some slippery gravel parts) but there is a track which you can drive along the waterfront to the boat ramp so it was easy to get out and after that we just parked at the top of the driveway. Don’t be put off this absolutely terrific property by comments about the driveway - it is amazing, best place, best view in Miena.

Peaceful secluded fantastic waterview getaway
The accommodation met our requirements exactly, providing peaceful exclusion to just relax in the airy dining/living area, or on the balcony, with expansive views to the lake nearby. I particularly liked the styling of this dinning/living area, such as the rolled leather couch facing out to the lake, which is where we spent most of our time. There is a PS4 and games, board games/puzzles, Netflix and Disney+ about 10mb/s of free wi-fi. The furnishings of the rest of the house are modest and typical of a holiday home. The kitchen has all the necessary items for making your own meals, including coffee machine and complimentary pods (thank you). But the general store doesn’t stock fresh meat and was out of bread for next two days, so you’ll probs want to bring these types of items with you. The pub at the ‘Miena Village’ which you can see across from the water from your balcony is modern and serves great food. The two complimentary fishing rods in the entrance way were appreciated, and with some worms purchased from the general store, gave opportunity for some fishing, which I would otherwise not normally experience. I had no problems navigating the driveway down, as it is sufficiently wide enough. However, the medium sized front wheel drive Ford Puma SUV did have difficulty going back up, which I believe is caused by a combination of the steep incline and small rock/pebble surface on soft dirt (which was dry). The wheels would instantly spin and dig a hole. It took us several attempts of reversing and trying again when stuck/wheels spinning, before we could reach the top. We left our car parked at the top of the driveway thereafter to avoid a repeat. I found the host, Selena, very hospitable and was proactive in contacting me to make sure that we had accessed the accommodation OK, all was in order, that she’s available to be contacted if need be.

has potential
The house has a large beautiful open kitchen/living room with breathtaking views overlooking the Great lake. from what i understand we it is only new to the rental market and as such there were some significant shortcomings (that should be relatively easily fixed). People should be aware that the driveway is VERY steep and unpaved - we were able to navigate down it in a minivan, but it took more than 45min and some harrowing attempts to get back up it - quite nearly requiring a tow and ultimately meaning that we needed to replace our 2 front tyres.... While the driveway cant be changed, the house itself will be great once the set up is finished and the details are taken care of.
