I loved my stay at the Sandman. Really nice hotel with large, comfortable rooms, large size TV, microwave and fridge. I had a view overlooking St James's and The Stack, which was fantastic. Breakfast is buffet style, plenty to eat. All the staff were friendly. Eldon Square is less than a 10 minute walk.

Had a room on the 9th floor on the front of the hotel. Only 2 lifts which means waiting a lot to go down. Road noise was bad. There was also a constant noise in the room. I can only guess that it was something to do with some kind of pipe work in the ceiling. Tried to eat in one night but the music was so loud I went for room service instead. They added a portion of wings which I didn’t ask for. Waiter said he would have it taken off the bill but he didn’t. No salt and vinegar or cutlery or napkin. Some awful paprika type stuff on the fries. Not advertised as such on the menu. Had to take it back to get plain fries. Burger was good though. Cheap price but it shows. Ask for a room at the back and on a lower floor if you stay.

Misleading rating, this should be a 3-star hotel at best. This is 3-star hotel at best, not sure how it got the 4-star rating. I was misled by reviews on Expedia and expected above-average quality. You can have a better time at a Travelodge / Premier Inn with lower prices. Location: St James Stack, a monstrosity constructed opposite to the hotel, the place would emit loud music and vibration throughout the night. You can only sleep after the closure of the Stack after 12am as the music noise and vibration are very strong. Two layers of windows should be installed to mitigate this issue. Toilet: Some genius decided to install the bath drain on the wrong end and there is no barrier to prevent water from flowing over the floor. You would have to build a "dam" with towels to stop the water. Shower hose was also not installed tightly, allowing water to come out at the joint. Wardrobe door: The door was off the rails when I went in. It was then fixed by a handyman Provisions: No separate shower gel and shampoo was provided, only a bottle of shower gel was provided. Employee claimed that the said shower gel can be used as shampoo as well. Lobby facilities: Coffee machine broke down the second time I tried to use it. Took a day for them to fix it.

Hotel has no parking. Drop off point in the Google map doesn’t take to the right place. Q park is the nearest best option. Room big enough and clean. No a/c but fan is available. Mo was excellent at desk and helpful. Being a Platinum member on Hotel. Com and Mo being very helpful allowed us to do late check out. Thx Mo.

Check was very quick with little info given about breakfast etc. Room was run down and dirty, mould on windows, cobwebs across the roof and the sliding wardrobe door was off it’s runner so inoperable for us.

noisy hotel, twice i’ve been stayed in this hotel and both times, i’ve been woken early hours by the hotel bin men. This occasion it was 5.30 in morning and the glass bins were being emptied and then again at 6.15am. i had a ex room… it was so basic and nothing special and really run down… mirror smashed as side of bed and just very used. I complained a reception so hotel are aware but they don’t seem to care. Breakfast was dry and been sat for ages. How this hotel get 4 stars is beyond me. it’s a 3 star.
