Accommodation In Perth
Looking for awesome places to stay in Perth? We know why! When you want to spend your holiday in the city while still feeling like you’re “away from it all”, putter over to Perth, the quiet capital of Western Australia.
Sunning on the coast of the Indian Ocean and the Swan River, Perth is just as relaxed as you would expect a waterfront city to be. When you aren’t visiting gorgeous parks or rocking out at a local jazz bar, there is an outdoor adventure with your name on it. Spend a day at the beach, hike through the nearby forest, or careen down the river in a kayak.
Sound good? Yeah, it does. Check out our Perth travel guide and start planning your getaway!
Plan Your Trip
Perth isn’t the biggest city, and you’ll appreciate the cosy setup as soon as you touch down at Perth Airport, just 14km northeast of the Central Business District. Public buses and trains will take you around town and to the nearby suburbs.
For shorter distances, walking and cycling are the best way to get around in this low-key location. Even on the tarmac, you’re never far from popular sights and awesome Perth accommodation. But if you’re planning to arrive in the wee hours, book one of our hotels near Perth Airport and catch some Z’s before kicking up your heels.
Eat Your Way Through Perth
With more restaurants per capita than any other state capital, Perth is the place to be for good eats. Bonus: The nearby Swan Valley happens to be Western Australia’s historic wine country. So…eat, drink and be very merry.
Nosh on what, you ask? Well, take advantage of the coastal location and order the seafood. The shiraz will go perfectly with your steak and sea scallops surf ‘n’ turf platter! After a couple tasting flights, you can nap in one of our Perth hotels
When you wanna grab a tasty, late-night meal before returning to one of the cosy Perth hotels, graze your way through the Twilight Hawkers Market, held every Friday night at Forrest Place. Eating dinner on a stick after bedtime is what dreams are made of, right? Pick up some peanut satay, spicy kabobs or smoked barbeque as you make the rounds and dig in.
Hit the Trails
Perth is surrounded by lakes and national parks. Heck, there is a river running right through the CBD! All that water means Perth’s idea of outdoor adventure is pretty relaxed. Landlubbers can hit the trails along Swan River as it winds north of town, or take a 33km drive out to John Forrest National Park to wander around in search of waterfalls. Hint: You’ll find them. Book hotels in Perth’s north side and wake up early to watch the sunrise in the Great Outdoors.
Get in a kayak and go with the flow. Charter your own one-person “ship” out to secluded Rottnest Island to laze on the beach with quokkas. Yes, we’re talking about the furry friends who look like they’re constantly smiling.
You may want to cuddle a quokka, but play it cool, friend. Build your new buddy a sandcastle and you’ll both be smiling from ear to adorable little ear.
Bring the Family
Do your little travel companions have some youthful energy to burn off? Hire bicycles or head out on foot to one of the gorgeous forests within a few kilometres of the city centre. Kings Park & Botanic Garden is especially close, and it’s also the largest inner-city park in the Southern Hemisphere.
We’re not saying bigger is always better, but when you can take an Aboriginal heritage walking tour through the bush, that’s an automatic win! Plus, Kings Park is directly south of the city centre, so if you’re wondering where to stay in Perth’s CBD, we’ve got a great idea.
Sip the Good Life
Downtown Perth may be small, but it has more than its fair share of watering holes and dance clubs. Head back to your Perth hotel for a quick costume change when the sun goes down.
But don’t even think about going to bed early, because this city is anything but sleepy. Both north and south of the railroad tracks, you can easily hop from jazz clubs to fancy cocktail bars and discotheques.
Hey, this is a prime opportunity to debut some new dance moves…
Join the Party
You can plan an entire holiday around the wine and cheese parties and weekends dedicated to eating your weight in Italian food of French cuisine, so check out our Perth hotel deals and mark your calendar. Several small communities in the area host their own harvest fests every year, but every April the Taste of Perth brings together foodies from far and wide to chow down and sip and swirl through the region’s signature local flavours.
To save big on top airfares and accommodation in Perth, mix and match the savings with Wotif. Build your own awesome Perth holidays and we’ll see you on the river!
