The room was very cosy for our couples weekend get away! We got a bit cold but we were kindly given a portable radiator and soon we were very toasty. It was also interesting learning the history of the place as this is my third time staying at the Ostrich - but it made it all the more fun! It was also nice to see the exterior Christmas lights still up. I’ve always regarded this inn my happy place - thank you!
Cozy pub atmosphere in an ancient building but with all modern amenities. Great food and cozy fire. We stayed here the night before an early flight from Heathrow. So much better than the airport hotels
Incredible place to stay if coming or going from Heathrow. We had a family member leave Heathrow and spent our last night with them at this location. Great atmosphere very welcoming to both children and dogs. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
Great experience! I wanted a hotel near Heathrow for an early flight but also wanted a hotel with character. This historic inn was perfect. The staff arranged for a driver to take me to the airport. The meal, staff and room were fantastic
From the moment I walked in as solo traveller I felt very uncomfortable. I had to push my way through a crowded bar to find someone to speak to re my reservation. I did not feel welcomed as the ladies were so busy serving food. I had to work back through the bar with my luggage and then find a way to get my large suitcase up a narrow staircase. A local guy offered help thankfully. My room was chilly, the radiator hardly giving out any heat. I could not figure out how to get any channels on the TV, I called reception 3 times and dropped into voicemail, feeling really unsupported and not valued. The whole night I had the continuous rubble of machinery right next to the wall which gave a disruptive nights sleep, even with earbuds I could feel the rubble. I felt aggrieved after seeing the score this venue has… not my type at all!
My sister and I had a fabulous stay at the Ostrich Inn, before heading off for our flight at Heathrow. It was in an excellent location, the accommodation was really comfortable and spacious, and the pub itself offers a delicious menu.
This pub is rough, the abusive language in the bar, the 20+ smokers clogging the doorway, the people that heckle and leer at you, the locals screaming and yelling in the bar area metres from the dining area were vile. The staff did nothing about it. It seems simply accepted that the local boozer where the people are nothing short of intimidating, obnoxious and abusive is run directly alongside the hotel and restaurant elements of the business. The two conflict and even the staff seem to agree. The restaurant staff are branding the language as “foul and disgusting”, yet nothing is done about it. So the business is happily taking hundreds of pounds from diners and room guests while entertaining their vile bar clientele. We weren’t shown to our room. Check in was cold and zero information given. We may as well have not bothered with the actual room. we would have had a better night sleep in the dining room to be honest. Never have I reviewed a hotel stay where I haven’t actually slept! The NOISE from the room (traffic not planes) is impossible. The bed came equipped with a summer duvet, so we were both freezing cold all night and “slept” in our clothes. Why is there not a winter duvet on a bed in WINTER? When we closed the curtains, a huge blob of old. cobwebs dropped down into my partner’s face from the filthy curtain rail. We were expecting a traditional well run and welcoming pub. We would NEVER stay here or recommend.
Absolutely fabulous place to stay!! Room was huge, spotlessly clean and fresh. Food in the restaurant was superb. Staff were friandly and helpful.

The location suited us and the parking was free. The bed in our room was tired and needed replacing. The tv did not work, but as we were in bed when we tried to get it to work we did not bother going back into the bar to speak to a member of staff. My wife’s breakfast was luke warm but once again we left it and did not complain. So sorry but it left a lot to be desired.
