The hotel cancelled our booking on the day when we were almost there. Plumbing issues apparently, although must have been very localised as other people checked in while we were trying to sort things out at reception as we had an event to go to within a couple of hours. They sent us to another hotel nearby. After we had checked into the other hotel, we got a phone call to say they had miraculously found another room and would we like to come back. We decided not to. They did kindly let us continue to use their carpark which is why they get 2 stars. Will not be booking them again.

I've stayed in hundreds of properties and rated this one the worst. Never will I stay there again and if anyone is hoping to use the hotel parking, I strongly suggest you seek other options.

For Sydney quite good value and location. Near Central Station and light rail. Staff were helpful. We expected a double bed but had 2 singles. Not really a problem but the castors made the bed move making it difficult to sit up in bed.

I first stayed at the SCH in 1961 it had old world charm and still does But needs to be updated in basic amenities. I appreciate that the room rate is comparatively low, but with a little attention to the room amenities the rate could be justifiably raised and the comfort / feel good of the room would add to a more positive feeling.

My second time staying here. The rooms are a tad small and the facilities are very basic but you can't argue with the price. The Great Southern Bar downstairs is great for a feed as well. I'll be back !

The location is great when arriving by train. Also convenient for the light rail. Cannot fault the hotel from this point of view. Hotel is "old" and it has that feel about it. This is a part of its charm to present a hotel (and history) form the early 20th century. Floors are a bit of a rabbit warren and rooms (at least 'my' room) are a little dull.

First time staying here and was pleasantly surprised. Great location, room and bathroom was very clean and so close to everything ! My only gripe is there was no microwave in the room as I'd packed microwave popcorn for a snack but other than that a great venue. I've already got another 2 stays planned for this year.
