One night stay, lovely comfortable room and great location. Parked in nearby NCP car park and got discount from hotel which was great. View from rooftop bar is amazing although you need to book in advance to get a seat(you get a limited amount of time and are asked to leave when your time is up, it gets busy), Service was a bit hit & Miss and drinks menu a bit dissapointing to be honest. View is worth visiitng for a quick drink but I wont be in a rush to go back. Check-in was a bit slow as only one person running desk. Only one lift was working on checkout day so waited a while to get a lift down from 4th floor. Only two lifts in a hotel this size is disappointing. But other than that... its a lovely hotel and would stay again.

Hotel advertises its roof top bar which was the whole reason we booked. When we got there went to book in only to be told it was fully booked all day. Only one table being used at the time. Unable to even have a drink for an hour. Staff were very unhelpful. Very disappointing. Parking terrible Ncp car park which was so tight to park in and very expensive. Given a disabled room and not even asked if this was ok.

Good location with easy access to York City Centre. Some of the staff are a little brusque though, especially in the rooftop bar. A gentle reminder that a kind word is a lot better than a blunt one.

Rooms where very small (club room) and light that we could not turn off which was very annoying. Informed reception next day saying at night it was to bright in the room because of it. Response: oh i will get someone to turn it off.

Comfortable Stay - Great Rooftop Restaurant
The Malmaison is a comfortable stay and only a short walk to Tourist Attractions. Check-In was efficient. There are stairs from the Drop-Off Parking to the 'Reception/Lift' floor making it a bit difficult if you have large suitcases. Well-equipped Fitness Centre. Great Roof-Top Restaurant with excellent service.

very modern decor. Not keen on the current trend for open plan bathrooms. Difficult for my husband to shave with no mirror over the wash basin. Room was fine for a night stay, with black out curtains and a comfortable bed

Convenient and As Expected
Room was as expected. We liked the large fridge and the shower water pressure. The soundproofing was a little lacking and I’m not sure the hot water heater had been recently cleaned (lots of calcium deposits). All the paper door hangings and menus were a bit worn and the drain was a bit off kilter, but things otherwise worked fine and we got a free drink for not having housekeeping come in during our stay. Great by location 5 min walk from train and from town.
