More Information About Sydney Airport
Can you shower at Sydney Airport?
Yes, Sydney Airport has showers in several locations. Ticketed passengers can have a hot shower at Gates 31 and 51, and there are showers for men only at Gate 24. There are also general showers that anyone can use on the departures level, at check-in desks A and K. Bring your toiletries and travel towel—these facilities only provide the hot water.
How many airports are in Sydney?
There is only one airport in Sydney: Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD). The Bankstown Airport (BWU) is close to Sydney, at about 25km west of the city centre, but it isn’t generally used for commercial flights. If you’re convinced Sydney has another airport, you’re probably thinking of Western Sydney International Airport, which is under construction in the town of Badgerys Creek and expected to be complete in 2026.
Can you walk between terminals at Sydney Airport?
It’s easy to walk between Terminals 2 and 3 at Sydney Airport, but you’ll need to take the shuttle or train to get to and from Terminal 1. Terminals 2 and 3 are the domestic terminals, and there’s a walkway between them. Terminal 3 is the international terminal, and you have a few options for transport. Hop on the complimentary shuttle bus between 6am and 8:50pm for a 10-minute ride. In a hurry? You may want to spring for the fare (around $7) on the Airport Link train—that journey takes only two minutes once onboard, and operates from 5am to midnight.
Is Sydney both a domestic and international airport?
Yes, Sydney Airport has flights within Australia as well as internationally. It probably comes as no surprise that Sydney is Australia’s busiest airport, but did you know that the Sydney to Melbourne flight route is one of the busiest in the entire world? International flights are no slackers either: The SYD international terminal handles nearly 15 million passengers per year.
How early do you need to arrive at Sydney airport for an international flight?
The usual rule for international flights is to arrive at least three hours before your departure time, and this is true for Sydney Airport as well. This should leave you enough time to check your bags, pass through customs and border protection, and grab some snacks before take off.
