The lady at reception was nice but some of the other staff were quite rude and condescending.
There is also a motion sensor in the room that turns off the aircond if it doesn't detect any movement after a while, this is ridiculous as it is very hot in Derby and for the price of the rooms it should be a given that they are always cool. The pool was also out of service due to a possible contamination but there was not enough notice or information provided to us or other guests.
The rooms while clean need maintenance, example changing door handles chipped paint updating linen not using the backup room blanket. There should be appropriate linen on the beds. (the linen you see in the photos is not the linen you get. also the balcony door is not very secure potentially could be left unlocked and given the high crime rate of the area is a huge risk.
Unfortunately, there are not many other accommodation options in the town so the hotel is able to charge ridiculous prices that does not have the service or quality standards to match. This also means quests will continue to stay there. It would be nice to stay there for once and not have any issues.
I feel for the Manager as many of these things are fixable but seems the Owners don't care so doubt anything will change.
