Dundee Carlton hotel!!!
This is more of an extremely dated hostel accommodation than a hotel. You have to phone as no reception staff and told it was full, clearly not on arrival. Indian restaurant and takeaway run on site. No shower fan, mouldy grout in shower, no bedside lights and dated furniture. Total modernisation required.

Excellent stay, highly recommended!!! 14/12/19
The best customer service I've ever had from the wonderful Stuart! Loaning me a laptop, comping fabby evening meal from the Indian restaurant next door! Could not have been better. Spotlessly clean room & bathroom. Very comfy bed & pillows, which is important to me as I suffer cronic back pain. Lovely views of the river Tay. Great location between city centre & Brought Ferry. Nice and quiet hotel. 5*****

Dirty Dundee hotel
This property is in the middle of being renovated and is the dirtiest hotel property I’ve ever experienced. There was no restaurant and no lounge or bar. There is a very small sitting area in the car park which was so dirty we couldn’t sit. The car park was littered with hundreds of cigarette buts. However the room was clean and the bed comfortable.

For the price I paid and my needs I couldn’t fault anything. The room was really clean and the guy there was very pleasant.

For one night only - thankfully!
Very disappointed in the room considering the price we paid. Filthy skirting boards. Paper thin walls and an unbelievably loud toilet flush which obviously was the same in every room because we could hear our neighbours toilet! No apparent fire escape which left us very uneasy and glad to leave. No reception facilities. TV not working. Overall very, very poor. Would definitely never return.

Horrible, avoid at all costs.
This place was awful. There is no one at the front desk, which is fine, but the key was just sitting on the desk when we arrived--anyone could have taken it. There is no lift/elevator, and the stairs are very steep. Our bathroom had NO TOILET PAPER. We called the manager/owner multiple times and he never answered or called back. The carpet and walls were filthy. If we had been able to find anywhere else to stay, we would have (I looked but couldn't find anything else with availability). Our room barely locked--anyone could have forced their way in with minimal effort. The deadbolt was attached to drywall which was very loose and falling off the wall. There was no breakfast available this morning. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

Get what you pay for.
very neglected hotel. Beds were lumpy, shower head was broken. Not a very pleasant experience but it's cheap. Not bad for workers but wouldn't take the Mrs. It's not difficult to have a clean budget hotel and maintain it but looks like they have lost interest in the place.

Looked ok from a distance!
Garden overgrown, inside is a mess. The owner told us he'd just taken the place over and was 'renovating' but having looked at previous reviews that's been happening for quite a while! The website says breakfast included but there were no staff in the place when we left at 11am. The way it's described on the website has absolutely no correlation with the reality of the place. Very disappointed

Despite being in the middle of renovations, the reception was delightful, the room was clean and more than sufficient and it was nice and quiet!

This is a hostel not a 3 star hotel !
To say we were disappointed would be an under-statement. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. We can only describe the place as 'basic'. The room was tiny with stains on furniture; one curtain was hanging off curtain pole; the towels had stains on them although we presume were actually clean; no complimentary shower gel or shampoo just 4 conditioners; you had to clean/service your own room i.e. wash out tea cups, make the beds etc; didn't see the mgr at all except for when we checked in; the breakfast area (it certainly wasn't a dining room) was full of dirty plates on the tables with no-one around during breakfast to clean it away; the toilet blocked in our room and we had to unblock it ourselves as there was no-one around to service this for us;. We had booked for 2 nights and on the 2nd night we appeared to be the only ones in this small hotel (no cars/no people in sight, it was a bit un-nerving.... ) We also didn't sleep well as our room was directly below a huge water tank on the roof which kept banging into operation every 15 mins.

Very uncomfortable bed
The bed was very uncomfortable. I stayed for 5 days and my neck and shoulders had a knot. I would have left if it wasn't already prepaid.

A decent budget hotel
There was no one at reception during check-in (around 9pm) OR at check-out (around 9 am). The keys were left under a piece of paper with our names written on it in pen. I realize it's a budget hotel, but that's a first for me. The hotel served our purpose just fine however, so no real complaints. One word of warning - our bathrooms (we booked two rooms) were tiny, like, airplane tiny. So if you're on the large size, you should enquire about bathroom size. Kudos to the restaurant next to the hotel (a separate business) who allowed our party to order food, even though they were already closed.

False advertising.
We had booked b&b and the hotel advertised a bar. We only booked 2 days prior to travelling. On arrival the young man on reception, who was the only employee on the premises and who was really nice, informed us that there would be no breakfast because the restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment. This information didn't go down well with my husband and myself and the other couple who we were with. We had to go into Dundee in the mornings for something to eat. They did give us a refund of £20 per couple.

Spacious room, great restaurant and staff.
Family room was very spacious and clean. Restaurant serves Indian food, but plenty of choices for those who don't like Indian too (pizza, kebabs etc.). Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff were great! A little bare in decor, nonetheless a very nice spot!

Great service with extremely hospitable staff. The food was delicious. The WiFi actually worked all the time. The room was spacious and cleanliness was kept to a high standard. The location is quite ideal as well, as there was always quick access to wherever we had to go. All in all a very good experience.
