About this property

WAITOHU LODGE Otaki - as featured in NZ House & Garden June 2020

When was the last time you unplugged from the madness and dove into nature? No, really?

Nestled into lush green forest an hour north of Wellington, Waitohu Lodge was built on the three Rs: relax, rejuvenate and revive.

There’s 2ha of Jurassic-like forest where the only sound is native birds and the breeze rustling the 100-year-old trees, a brand new 6m x 3m swimming pool to cool off in, a private bush-walk and stream where you can picnic and a stylishly renovated one-bedroom apartment (not surprising when one of your hosts writes for NZ House & Garden Magazine).

The space
Washing machine available on request
Coffee, tea and treats in room
Swimming pool (for guest use only)
Private bush walk on property with stream access
Must be dog friendly as there is a small dog on site

Relaxing stay in beautifully designed apartment
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. While joined to the house by an annex the apartment was completely private and felt like our own space. Beautiful outlook across the large lawn to the private bush reserve. Lovely fireplace inside was perfect for our early winter getaway. We enjoyed all the thoughtful, artistic finishes in the apartment. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely place, it was incredible to stay at Waitohu lodge. Peaceful and great. we chose this location because we wanted to be not far from Wellington and at the same time in a countryside setting. This apartment combines well 2. It is a very good compromise. We were about 1 hour from Wellington, less than 10 minutes from the beach. The property is just beautiful. The bed is super comfortable. The welcome by the host just excellent.

Great way to get away from it all with friendly hosts. Set in private park like grounds. Little extras added to a positive experience. Would defiantly recommend. Thanks Marty and Sharon
