Loved the Horton Grand!
This was a nice stay as it was midweek and there weren't a lot of people around. My husband and I have had this place on our bucket list due to its haunted history. We did not experience anything out of the ordinary but enjoyed it anyways. Our room and the hotel were very clean. It's located on a small street that is right off of 4th avenue that has lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. It's a little less busy of a street so that made it easy to pull over and use the valet parking. The fee is $59 for overnight but also has in and out privileges. Our room also had a balcony that had a great view of the city where we sat and enjoyed the night lights and morning quiet. My only negatives were the cost of valet (eventhough that's pretty standard) and the pillows were a little too thick but still soft.

I love the character and location of the Horton Grand. Recently stayed there around San Diego Comic-Con and despite the madness, the service was top notch, everything was very clean and organized, and both front desk and the folks in Salt & Whiskey we lovely. Will be back!

This place has personality.
If you're staying in the gaslamp district and want something different, this is it, and at a great price. The old world architecture is marvelous. The staff is courteous and helpful. You can walk to a lot of great dining and entertainment. The restaurant and bar is really good. We loved this place.

Excellent stay, I will return.
Everything about my stay was top notch. From the VIP early check in (using my name), to the coupons (which I used) to the extremely helpful valets (when I left my leftovers in the back seat and they went to get them for me). Every time I interacted with someone at the hotel I was met with a smile and a genuine care for my stay. It was wonderful. The care taken for this property and the people who stay here is very clear.
