The property was in a great location and near the rail for transportation. It is an older building but the facilities were great. The bed was very comfortable and had all amenities we needed. We did not dine at the hotel but there were restaurants within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and greeted you every time you came into the hotel. There we a few homeless people but they didn't bother us and what city doesn't have them. I felt safe walking at night. Great location for our needs. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Overall good hotel and I will stay here again when staying overnight in the city. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance and shopping. When you come to SF, expect to see homeless. I felt safe walking outside the hotel even at midnight. Hotel key is required to enter the hotel and elevator and parking was underground In a small garage and secure at all times.

We loved how close the Powell St. Station was when we arrived. We had a quick block to walk to get to the hotel and we were allowed to check in early which was Great! We had to be buzzed in at the door which made me feel safe staying in the hotel. We were greeted by wonderful staff that asked about our stay, they helped with every question we had about the area and each time we arrived back after an adventure we were met with a kind Welcome back! The hotel itself is older, rooms could be repainted but everything worked great, tv, fridge, keurig coffee maker. Shower was great and the beds super comfy. Pillows were meh but we were so tired at end of the day it didn’t matter. Great safe hotel with awesome staff.We were also close to all transit, including the famous Cable Cars. Look into transit passes that are good for a week, we didn’t know about that and it cost us a lot more. I would like to mention to travellers this is very close to the Tenderloin area though and extend a BE CAUTIOUS. Travel up and down and to the right. If you head left, a mere street over is NOT where you want to land and my husband and I who generally like to roam a new city… we stayed mostly in full touristy areas so avoid any unknown activity. After dark there is a more ominous presence in the area. We enjoyed our stay very much! San Francisco’s heat wave ended the day we fly back to Canada so hoping they are enjoying the lower temps now and we hope you love your stay at The Pickwick Hotel! Jan & Ric

well the drapes we ripped like said earlier. bathroom tap was about to come out. there were some wires on the floor, it was safe but it was still there. the work out was dirty, dust was still on limited machines, there was no drinking water facility. house keeping staff was great, if i made a small complaint it would be that they would not leave sugar substitutes for coffee. however carpets in the hallway had stains. it was nosiy, but its the city, i would here ambulance sounds in the middle of night

There are other hotels that are better
So I got checked in no problem. I got to my room and it had some room. The bathroom was big, but I think that’s because it was a handicap one. So I tried to turn the AC on and the knobs were pretty much for show. I got my room changed and it was so small. At least the AC worked. The hotel could use remodeling done on the rooms because the first room I was in, the closet was almost blocked by the cabinet. The second morning I saw some silverfish in the tub. They were a very friend staff that offered to hold my bags after checkout so I could explore the city.

The hotel in general needs an upgrade. The rooms need new carpets, better soundproof windows, new shower fixtures and tiling in the bathroom, etc. However, its location is undoubtedly brilliant as one can get anywhere from there. Moreover, the furniture in the room is in good condition, the bed was comfortable, and housekeeping visited every day. I can’t however comment much on the service since we only communicated upon checking in and out. The time in between no one from reception greeted us as we would come in or go out. Overall a good experience I would say. I saw some earlier comments about homelessness and so on, but one should keep in mind that the pavement is not hotel's property and they can’t really do much about it.
