Retro hotel close to everything
A retro style hotel close to everything. Nice, clean pool; not a lot of amenities, but we knew that when booking. This really was a place to rest our heads at night after spending the day exploring around LA. Location is close to many sites/activities. No parking fee and the valet was very nice. The front desk was helpful. The elevator was not working; thankfully, we only had to go up a half flight of stairs and none of the party had mobility issues. The vending machines offered were quite expensive; the front desk told us as much and suggested we go down the block to the corner store for anything we might like to have. The rooms were updated and the bathrooms were nice and large. I felt like we had a good value for the place and what it offered. I would stay here again.

No AC or elevator
AC was out for the two days i was there. It was a heat wave in LA. Completely unbearable and they didn't do anything or bring fans. Elevator is out of commission until next year, had to walk to 3rd floor. Nice property but need to fix these issues asap

Nice rooms but the stair hike sucks.
Very cool mid century vibe, well decorated rooms, nice pool. Very helpful front desk staff however, it would have been nice had they told me the elevator was out of order before swiping my card to pay for my 3rd floor room. Also, early morning construction outside my window was a bit annoying.

Don't. Just don't. Elevator is broken, and we were on the top floor. the carpet is ripped, and the furnishings are shabby. The shower has poor pressure and poor draining. I wanted to like this place, the pictures look kitschy and cute. Housekeeping never even came to empty the garbage let alone pick up towels or change linens and we stayed 3 days. The in-room coffee service had 2 coffee pods, then when I asked for more I was told they that they only have decaf. Again I stayed 3 days although I am not sure why because I have a phone and a credit card so I really should have left. Oh yes, there is construction on both sides of the hotel, and my husband got violently ill after eating at Swingers. They had a 8/10 rating and that makes me not want to believe anything that Expedia has as far as ratings. BEWARE.

Clean and comfortable
Yes, the elevator was still out of order, but they are working on fixing it. I understand the frustration, but it's only three floors. The front desk staff is friendly, and the resort fee is quite reasonable at $35, which includes parking. The room was clean and comfortable, though it did show some minor signs of wear. Overall, the price and location were great, and unless you're very particular, this place works well for a couple of nights.

A gem!
This retro hotel is a little gem. Our room was very clean as was our bathroom. We had appointments at Cedars-Sinai hospital and the location is just 8/10 of a mile away. Apparently there is self-parking in the back so drive around to the side-street and pull in. We didn't know about this and paid the $35 fee which included valet parking and was VERY convenient. The restaurant "Swingers" next door is DELICIOUS!!! The menu is diverse and amazing and very reasonable.

We liked the pool and the proximity to the Grove and Farmers Market. There is an eclectic restaurant called Swingers attached to it that had good comfort food. The only 2 things we didn't like is we had to use valet parking so we lacked the freedom to go to and from our car - we had to have someone get the car for us whenever we needed it. Also the elevator was out of service and our room was on the 3rd floor so we had to drag our luggage there., but they did offer to help.
