We stayed for 2 days. We arrived a couple of hours before the 4pm check in time and had to pay $40 to get an early check in. The room was very nice. In the morning it was very noisy. On both days the cleaning staff spoke very loud in front of my room. I mentioned it to the management and was assured that it was addressed. The next morning it was even worse with a guy giving instructions to one of the cleaning ladies. I’ve stayed in many hotels and this was the first time this has happened. To top it off, as we exited the room on our last day there was a horrendous smell throughout the whole floor as if there was a sewage backup.

The room and property were very clean, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. It’s located very close to the zoo and Sea World. It also has a huge pool that our kids loved. The free breakfast was convenient and pretty well stocked up until closing time. We walked in 15 mins before closing time and everything was fully stocked, so I was able to get a couple things and take it back to our room because all the tables in the dining area were taken. They had muffins, cereal, egg omelette, breakfast sausage, bread for toast, a couple waffle makers, and of course coffee! However we were super disappointed in the mattresses on the king bed and pull out couch. The bed had an indentation so deep on one side that made it uncomfortable to sleep on, and the thin mattress on the pullout bed was the WORST we’ve ever seen. Our two kids will sleep on it with no problems at hotels, but on this one you could feel the metal coils when you lay down. After the first night my son woke up in pain and complained that he didn’t sleep comfortable. I laid down to test it out and OMG the coils hurt so bad that I couldn’t have our kids sleep on that thing again. So, on our second night we all slept on the king sized bed. We would love to stay here again, but I don’t think I could risk getting another room with bad mattresses, especially when we need a good night sleep and rest for all the walking we did at the Zoo. This property is in desperate need of new mattresses.

By far, the worst experience I had with a hotel in my lifetime. First, when we checked in: - the bathtub was full of dirty water - the pillows had lipsticks on it - the sink was leaking - the person who checked us in (turns out he was the manager of the hotel) was trying to force us to buy a parking spot, although there were ample street parking nearby. After a long wait, a maid came in the claimed to clean the tub, but it was clogged. We couldn't even take a shower, so the staff pointed us to another room to take a shower in, but the room was freezing. The plumber came to unclog our bathtub but he couldn't even do it. This room should not be given to any customers. While we complained about this issue to multiple staff members, nobody offered an apology, including the manager. I strongly recommend you to spend some extra dollars and find a better hotel. It's one of the worst hotels in the world. The hotel should be ashamed.

This is an old property. We booked 2 rooms and one of the room had AC troubles all 3 nights. Like it has a mind of its own. It turns on and off whenever it chooses to. On top of that it makes a loud noise that kept waking up my toddler.

Overall the Best Western was good for the price. Clean room and property was well kept, however the area around it wasn't. Across the street there was a lot over grown weeds and shrubs with a great deal of litter.

The outside of the property was nice. Good breakfast. The room however looked very ran down especially the restroom. There was paint chipping from the tub, mildew on the ceiling and walls, and the door had water damage. The restroom vent barely worked, but definitely should be replaced.

My only negative thing to say is that the hotel sits off the beaten path in the sense that it’s away from most restaurants and stores. This problem is easily fixed with a rental car; however, dealing with the excess of transients in the area is non-fixable. **because of this it would be nice if parking was included in the room fee instead of having to pay $24 to park safely on the hotel property. Everything else was great with the stay. Front desk ladies are very sweet and accommodating for the most part. They have security that patrols the property so you do feel pretty safe. Breakfast was alright, nothing special. Room was clean, bed was comfy, pool was clean, and it’s close to literally everything in San Diego. Overall great stay, I’ll be back when I visit San Diego again. Thanks!

First room had ants. Moved late to another room. Second room smelled like mold, bathtub faucet was loose, sink faucet was put on backwards. Cold was hot, hot was cold, a/c wasn’t great, bright light shinning in our room. Do not recommend
