First off from the reviews, I was concerned the hotel was going to be horrible. But instantly I was pleased to see so many stores and restaurants all within walking distance. That being said, the hotel staff definitely does try to maintain the facility but it’s not a gated property so you should definitely be vigilant of your surroundings especially if your room is on the first floor of any of their building. I had building C first floor and it was great when running back to the room to grab something and the housekeeper I had was sweet and hardworking. I love that the swap meet was right across the street and old town park was maybe a 10 minute walk.
Now the Cons from my experience here for a week was the lack of soundproofing. I was getting woken up by the dumpster truck for the Panera bread that was on the property atleast 3 mornings. Then the slamming of doors or other guest talking right outside my door and being able to hear it as if they were in my room having the conversation wasn’t great. But again it could have been because I was on the first floor.
Lastly, there was a lot of homeless individuals in the area, but if you stay vigilant and don’t bother them they don’t bother you. And if you don’t have to walk alone at night try to avoid that as well.
Overall it was a great week there, no issues with the staff, all the guest mind their business, and it’s honestly a great location to all San Diego has to offer.
