My family and I stayed at the hotel for 7 nights, however upon checking into our room, the room had a weird smell similar to mould smell. The room definitely need a vent in the shower as theres not much ventilation in the room beside the aircon. Would we stay there again? Maybe but definitely need to request a different room but the location of the hotel is quite good, across the hotel theres a shopping mall and it is a walking distance to bugis junction and MRT is quite close.

A big hotel that doesn’t take allergies seriously
The Carlton is a beautiful hotel but we had a disappointing stay. We contacted the hotel when we booked to inform them of my wife’s allergy to feathers and they acknowledged this. However when we came to check in, they informed us they would have to change the room and we would have to wait 30 minutes. This was disappointing after we had been travelling for 16 hours but we went for a drink and came back. Unbelievably when we came back the room still contained a cushion full of feathers which we had to ask to removed immediately. Furthermore, when we checked out I asked for a receipt but this request was ignored by the dismissive member of reception staff. Do not stay in this hotel if you have allergies or want to be treated with respect.

Slightly disappointing compared to expectation
Stayed in room 1535. The good thing about the room, was that it was requested high floor and quiet. Cleanliness in the toilet was impeccable, with minimum water stains and fresh towels and amenities laid out. However, I was quite disappointing upon arrival to find the room slightly damp. The carpet was damped to the touch, it is worse by the table at the bay window. The bedsheets wasn't as dry and crisp, and there was a musty smell in the air. The aircon had a low groan throughout the night. There was a missing bulb socket at the bay window and the cabinets all had worned edges. The complimentary water bottle had a light layer of dust which I assumed had been standing there for a while, which I wouldn't dare to consume. The room desperately needed a dehumidifier and also a regular schedule of cleaning (even when there is no occupancy). I was only there for a night to reactivate Hotel.com account (because Hotel.com wouldn't give me a waiver since their acct had issues from dec last year and I couldn't book my May 2024 trip hotels, and my account became stagnant) but other than the prime location (just next to Chijmes and CityHall mrt station), I doubt I will revisit the hotel again.
