I would return to this hostel, let's start there. I have a bad foot and the stairs can be a bit treacherous after a long day of walking. That's probably the biggest negative I encountered. If you're fit and not constantly in pain, you'd be just fine. It's hot and the a/c never totally beats the heat, but oh well.
I booked 2 nights in the 10 bed mixed dorm, which was almost empty on the first night. The second night the room was full, but still not too bad approaching capacity. It is clean, and there was always a bathroom or shower stall open when I needed it. Someone kept using my designated shoe bin, so I abandoned my shoes on the stairs. I was given a locker key and never really felt unsafe enough to have to use it, but it was helpful for keeping my stuff out of the way. I was backpacking through; the locker does not fit a backpack, just choice personal items. Nice community feel in the morning when having toast and tea. Old rucksack inn tourist notes on the walls in the hall and dining area from the previous hostel were charming and unexpected.
